Died 14th March 1924 age 71 Williamstown born 1852 if born after 14th March or 1853 before
Married Rachel Ann Newing, September Qtr 1875 Eastry Kent
Father John Newing mother Marianne / Mary Ann Clark
Chr. 2nd February 1854 Eastry Kent Died 15th July 1921 age 66 Williamstown
If possible I would like to know more about his parents and if his father's name and occupation is the same on the BC and MC. I do not know when the couple left for Australia .

Hi Edward Thomas Spicer on the GRO Index March qtr 1852 Eastry indicates his mothers maiden name was Lawrence, oddly their are two entries 2a 161 Spicer male and 2a 613 one ...rence the other Lawrence

I'm afraid the only way that you are likely to get the information from the birth and marriage certificate is to buy them from the GRO. At the moment you can get them online for £6 rather than the paper ones for £9.25.

OBITUARY.
THOMAS SPICER
A very old and highly esteemed resident of this city, in the person of Mr. Thomas Edward Spicer, passed to the great beyond on Thursday morning last, the 13th inst., at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. D.Mc-Kenzie; 65 Albert-street, Port Mel-bourne after a brief illness. De-ceased, who was 71 years of age, was a native of Deal, Kent, England; and for over 40 years resided locally at
Ilawarra street, where he was highly respected. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon, leaving his daughter's residence for interment in the local necropolis, and was largely attended. The Rev. E. E. Robinson(Anglican) officiated at the cemetery,and Mr. Ernest W. Jackson. Ferguson-street, efficiently carried out the funeral arrangements.

Hi again, why have you got the parentage of Rachel Newing and not Edward Thomas Thomas Edward, a marriage certificate is a must for all, not just for you?

He always referred to himself as Thomas but was actually named Edward Thomas. That must have been because his father was always called Edward. I needed to confirm that his mother was Sarah Lawrence and i now know that they were married in 1837. I have found records for the birth of all of their children except Henry / Harry. Some were born in SA and some in Victoria. I think that may be Henry was born whilst they were journeying between the two states.
