Title: Leo P. Duguay
Post by: scottie1189 on Monday 05 February 18 13:28 GMT (UK)
Trying to find info on my great uncle Leo DUGUAY, he was the son of Joseph Paul DUGUAY and Marie Ida CHIASSON.

My cousin and I have hit a dead end, we've not been able to find anything on him. The only things we found to his name is he's in the 1940 census with an estimated birth year 1927, and an old newspaper article in Massachusetts announcing his marriage to Alice LAMPERT in 1946. My cousin said her father told her that he died at a young age (like before 30 or so.) in some kind of accident...other than that, we've been unable to find a birth date or place of birth, and no death information. We'd really like to find this out, as it's the only family mystery we've been unable to solve...we don't even know if he had any children or not...it's really odd.  :-\ The two of us have been struggling trying to solve this family mystery for quite a while, but have run out of ideas. Can anyone help us, please? Thank you.

There's an entry in the Massachusetts marriage index that matches the announcement.

There is a Leo Duguay who died 1949 in Gardner, Massachusetts according to the Massachusetts death index.

Here is an article about the accident he was involved in and that he died the next day from injuries recieved in the accident the night before. The article also names his wife, parents and siblings and mentions funeral & burial.

These are only previews and you need to play around with searh criteria to see the whole article. Here's what i've been able to come up with.

Springfield Union
Springfield, Massachusetts
August 15, 1949

Unfortunately, Genealogy Bank seems to have changed their previews so non-subscribers can't see much of anything.

There are Springfield newspapers here, and the headline about an accident can be seen if you search for Leo Duguay.  http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives/?p_product=HA-SUNB&p_theme=histpaper&p_nbid=&p_action=keyword&f_editSearch=yes&p_queryname=2

I'm a non-subscriber and can see all the previews as before. They have changed their format, so how one approachs and manipulates the search criteria is different, but the results are the same.

The five previews links should show the whole article (in parts), just using different search words.

I used to be able to see their previews by scrolling around, but they seemed to have changed it in the past few months.  Now, everything is covered by a big box that says Start a 30-Day, No-Risk Trial Membership, and it won't let me scroll at all.  I even tried a different browser, and it's the same.

That's what I see, too.  You can see a little of the text below the box.

OK...I see where your problem is. Apparently you allow sites to run any script they want when you visit them. A lot of the script these sites run are not needed to get around the site. This is third party garbage with pop ups, advertisements and other garbage that are not needed for the site to work

These two scripts are what is causing your problem and the "Start a 30-Day, No-Risk Trial Membership" box to appear and block everything on the page.
code.jquery.com
cdn.jsdelivr.net

You can't allow those scripts to run on the site when you visit it. I'm guessing you are not using any security extension to block unwanted script, such as, uMatrix or NoScript(the original script blocker, but more complicated to use)
