Title: Looking for a wedding near Pampisford c 1715
Post by: avidt on Monday 05 February 18 22:22 GMT (UK)
Hi

I have a William Frost baptised 1717 in Pampisford parents John Frost and Mabel, they had another child baptised in 1722. Prior to the birth of William there were a series of births to a John Frost and Grace, so I wonder if Grace died and John remarried to Mabel, but I cannot find either marriage, can you help please.

Many thanks

David ;)

familysearch has the marriage of a John Frost to a Grace Jepps 23 October 1707 at Little Shelford and the baptisms of the folling children
John 1708
Sarah 1712
James 1713
Sary 1715

It also has the baptism of William 1717 and Mabel (spelt Mobble) 1722 to a John Frost and Mabel (Mobble) but doesn't appear to have the marriage, nor a death for Grace.

If you'd checked www.familysearch.org you'd have found a 1707 marriage to Grace Jepps. And the supersearch at the Cambs FHS site to which you've been directed before has an entry in 1716 in Pampisford for Grace Frost, which might be a burial.

Hi Emeleton & Bedfordshire Boy

many thanks for your replies, I had all the information and I had missed the death of Grace in the Super Search which i have been using a great deal thanks to your direction for that Bedfordshire Boy. It looks a ;possibility that John did not marry Mabel after the death of Grace.

Many thanks

David :D

I had missed the death of Grace in the Super Search

The super search merely shows an entry for Grace Frost in Pampisford parish register in 1716; It doesn't show that it was a burial. You need to check the parish register to  check whether it was a baptism, marriage or burial.

A long shot!

There's a marriage of a John Frost at Fleet, London, on 11 Nov 1716. The entry is on familysearch, but it appears to have been taken from an index of marriages so the other party isn't named. But searching the same database for Mabel there are marriages of Mabel (l) Harrington at Fleet  London on 12 /13 Nov 1716. Suspiciously close and the references are RG7-041/042/044.

Worth further investigation

Hi David

That certainly worth having a look at, The dates certainly seem right. I think a trip up to the SOG might prove worthwhile and I could also op into the London Metriopitan Archives. Many thanks

Hi David

Mabell Harrington married Richard Arrow on the 12th November 1716 at Shadwell Fleet rules Clandestine marriage. It was a good call, but ultimately just a coincedence.

The BT shows that it was a burial
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C9T9-NB25?i=105&cc=1465708&cat=1108444

Couple of months after the baptism of Sarah.
Sadly there is no BT for the next year.
