Hi there,
I am looking for birth of Carl Wictor/Wiktor Danielson. He later moved to America but I know he was born about 1843 in Örebro, Sweden. I can't find any record of his birth, which is a shame as I was hoping to find out who his parents were and go back further. His wife was 'Kristina Charlotta Jansdotter', and she was born about 1841 in Sweden, again can't find her or her parents either. 'Danielson' might be spelled 'Danielssen' or 'Danielsson'. I have seen in one person's tree on Ancestry, his name as 'Carl Vietor/Wietor Danielson' as well.
Thanks so much if you can help.

The whole family left for USA 10 Aug 1885. I noticed somewhere that 1 or 2 of Carl's siblings also emigrated to USA.

Also,
Carl's family was a family of thieves including Carl Victor. His father served 8 years hard labour for his troubles and there is a wonderful photo of his father from the prison records:

Wow, this is amazing! Is his father's name 'Daniel Carlson'? It looks like there is a letter before the 's' in Carlson, but I cannot make it out. Is the mother 'Brita Maya Olod'? Can't quite make out her name

That is great so much, do you know where I can tell Daniel and his wife's age? It seems unclear on the census entries
-
You're welcome.
His name is Daniel Carls(son)... son of Carl that is.
Her name is Brita Maja Olsdotter.
The photo is of Carl Victor's father.
The minister had written beside their names that they were thieves. I'll translate the notes for you sometime tomorrow.
The Household examination (census) shows the date of birth not the age.

Thanks so much, I am doing this for my friend, and he thought someone in that generation went to prison for stealing a chicken possibly.

I don't think it stated what was stolen.

I took a wee look in USA for them. You have to be a member to view them but it is free to do so.
Here are 2 censuses from Minnesota:
1885: http://www.rootschat.com/links/01lkf/
1905: http://www.rootschat.com/links/01lkg/
I don't where Christina Charlotta is, perhaps she died on the way over.
