Title: Lamberton 1854 Marriage look up at Archives request
Post by: River Tyne Lass on Sunday 11 February 18 15:00 GMT (UK)
I don't know if this is possible but I was wondering if someone may be able to check if Berwick record office holds the marriage record for Jacob Millar and Jane Anderson.  They married on 9th August 1854 at Lamberton  according to newspaper notices. I would like to know all the information which may have been recorded on the register for them including witnesses names.

I would be most grateful if any one can spare the time to look this up.

Thank you in anticipation.

Is it on Scotlands People?  If so you could download it

Thank for your advice but no, this is not on Scotland's People. I am hoping someone can do a look up at the record office if possible. :)

If have no luck in Scotland, you might find them in England given it was a Newcastle Journal announcement?  Likely the Woodburn Archives (Berwick-Upon-Tweed) or possibly Newcastle given he was from Morpeth and were living there in 1861 with 2 children. "At" Lamberton could be a simple typo.

You could write to  the archives at Berwick giving all the information you have but this will cost you a small fee for your search

This is to try to show that I have two posts on this subject.

Thank you for your advice everyone - much appreciated.

I doubt however, they would have married in England as wouldn't there have been a GRO index on this?  However, please correct me if you think I am incorrect.  Jacob was baptized at Longbenton, St Bartholomew but then went on to live in Morpeth and then on to other places.

Hi Everyone,

Just to let you know.  Another source (not on RootsChat) has just sent me word that Jacob and Jane are listed on the Lamberton marriages with a page number but no further information is provided.

It appears these runaway marriages were kept very secretive indeed.   :-\  Oh, well, at least I got to find out that they did marry and Radcliff has been able to kindly let me know a gravestone exists so the search goes on! :)
