Hi all from Ireland
Not familiar with what Glasgow info is available online, but would love to know who exactly was living at No. 18 Willowbank Crescent around 1911-15.
Is there a 1911 census that's free to view online?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Each name will be the Head of each family. Possibly, this is a tenement as there are a lot of different surnames at this address. Are any of these names familiar to you?

I'm asking on behalf of another family member, who has a photo of a lady, on the back of which is written - but hard to decipher - "?? Alexander". Then below this is the address, which is clear enough.
I've just come across something on the net mentioning an "Alexander M'Lean" at that address, but I wonder who he is and what the connection was. Maybe the writing on the photo is "To Alexander"...
Doesn't sound like an Irish name, does it. I'd guess at Scottish, so wonder did he have an Irish wife?

You do find Irish Macleans, often spelled McClean but Alexander Maclean sounds Scottish enough!.

In 1908 and 1909, there is a Margaret McLean living at number 18, and in 1910 there is a Thomas McLean and an Algernon W. S. McLean. In 1914, there is an Alexander McSween, a Traveller.
Perhaps Alexander McLean in your photo was visiting Margaret McLean, Thomas or Algernon. If he was only visiting for a short period of time, he would probably not show up on any records.
My information comes from Ancestry's Glasgow Elecetoral Registers.

I have just discovered an Alexander Mclean living at 18 Willowbank Crescent from at least 1886 up to 1899. He appears on the lists as a Grain Merchant.

I should be meeting the person who has the photo (of a lady) in a couple of weeks, so will pass on all your suggestions. Knowing the names of people at this address should help solve the mystery.
