Hi
Can anyone provide regimental identification for these men in Edinburgh, thought to be at the time of the Great War?
Thanks
Hibee

Later than WW1. I would suggest at least 1920's possibly 30's.
Can't id the Regt. as the cap badges/shoulder titles are too indistinct.

OK, thanks very much.

Royal Scots?
Skoosh.

I see nothing to date it post WW1. Indeed the lack of cap badges and odd colour uniforms suggest early 1915.

Hiya
I have a photo somewhere of my Grandad in a similar uniform, he was in the Black Watch then Kings Own Scottish Borderers. (so could be either)I remember the hat having two short ribbons down the back too, as we played with it as kids.He was in WW1

The Watch did not wear the red and white tartan band as they wore Government tartan and their Glengarry hats were dark.

Sorry Alan
I can only see a black and white photo on here, looks all the same to me :-[
Will have to see if my granddads hat still exists somewhere in Mums house

Whilst the photo is BW, the check band around the cap would have been red and white squares. The BW did not wear this band but had a plain cap without the checks.
They all wear old pattern leather belts and possibly blue tunics which were issued late1914 before khaki cloth was available. This and the lack of badges suggest Christmas 1914/spring 1915.
The one cap badge is the shape of the Royal Scots. They were an Edinburgh regt.

Good evening,
I agree with Skoosh, Royal Scots. As far as I am aware they are the only ones to wear a black rossette in place of the cap badge.
The dicing on the glengarry would be red and green on centre row.
