Mary Paulina Dickson died 22 september 1972 in Courbevoie (called Maria), widow of Angelo BRATTESANI . They married (she signed the licence Mary Paulina) Dickson 20th march 1917 at St Peters , Great Windmill St , London (Angelo is said restaurant keeper on the marriage certificate , father Giuseppe Brattesani). She is said born 26 august 1888 in Newcastle -en-Tyne , daughter of Andrew and Sarah Dickson on her death certificate but I cannot find her there.
On census 1911 , Chelsea ,she is Mary Pauline Dickson , housemaid , born in Norhumberland.
They had a girl Lily on april 1916 who died quickly.
Can someone find Mary's birth ?

Thank you jennifer c and heywood.
Her father is Andrew on the marriage certificate. Her mother is said Sarah on her death certificate.
She could be Mary born Berwick, .
-
Is there no occupation for Andrew on the marriage certificate?
The death certificate information relies on the informant’s knowledge.

Census 1891? Where?

Living in Tweedmouth.
-
Of course, sorry.
-
It’s not Mary Eleanor - she married in 1909, Berwick.
-
Well done, now we know it was a wrong track.
May be the Mary Dickson , Berwick district is the right one.

What was her age at marriage? 26 august 1888 doesn't match with aged 25 in 1911 but the census might be off, especially.
The Dickson/Patterson couple seem to be Alexander Dickson and Elizabeth Patterson (married 1879).
Here they are in 1891 with daughter Mary:

Still there in 1901 but the family have moved to Wales:

Mary not with family in 1911:

Hello jorose, thank you for your help. You are right , she is said 28 in 1917 at her marriage in London
-
Mary Dickson married George Locke in Cardiff 1907.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XW6K-PS7
1911 shows her born Cardiff but the child William has mmn Dickson.
-
Could be if she was widowed very soon, but in 1917 she is said spinster and marries as Dickson, not Locke .
-
I do not think it is your Mary in Cardiff.i posted so that she could also be discounted from the search.
-
Ok, thanks. Knowing who's not the right person is important.

This would mean that the forename of her father is not the right one on the mariage and death certificates, as well as the mother's forename.
Where was she in 1901 ?
-
Another one to add and try to follow
1901 4816/219/3
Mary Dixon 14 yrs b York, Yorkshire.
She is an inmate in Ashburton Home, St Elizabeth, Gosforth, an industrial school.
Mary may well have fabricated her father’s name on marriage.

Still think there is a Scottish connection, many Italians went to Scotland.
Jennifer
-
Jennifer,
Do you mean a Scottish connection for Mary? There could be as we can’t identify her yet.
I don’t understand what you mean about Italians and Scotland though for Mary. Newcastle and Northumberland have been given for her birth.
-
Dickson and Patterson are names found in Scotland and her husband sounds Italian , could be a link to Scotland as many Italians went to Scotland.
Jennifer
-
I was thinking as she married in London, her husband, presumably Italian, would have no Scottish connection.
She is not the Patterson child though, she married in Cardiff. Reply #17.

She is said born 26 august 1888 in Newcastle -en-Tyne , daughter of Andrew and Sarah Dickson
Just noticed that there was a Sarah Andrew Dickson born Haltwhistle in 1867. Married Johannes DeVries in 2Q 1891.
