Unfortunately, I know nothing about the man in the photograph and would appreciate any help in identifying his uniform.
Thank you

Hi Calderlass,
I have a very similar picture of my mother's older brother. He was in the RAF. I believe the band on the cap relates to his days as a cadet.(trainee??)
I have later photo's showing him wearing cap without the band but with insignia for Signals/Navigator Aircrew on his jacket.
Regards,
Malcolm.

Hello Malcolm
Thank you for the quick reply. Around what date do you think the photograph could have been taken?

I could not give a definite answer to that. My uncle joined up about 1939 and served until the mid/late 1950s, he married in '64 and I'm fairly certain he had been a civilian for a good number of years by then.
I've found an AIR 78 record card with the word MILITIA at the top above his name and a number, but no date.

Thank you again. Hopefully, the information you have given me will one day help to identify him.

Here's a photo of my uncle, note the different lapel size. Someone may be able to date them.
