Trying to link recent family with an Alice Pain from Thanet area in Kent. So far the only one found is Alice Pain b. circa 1896; father Arthur R 1859-1930 and mother Hannah H (nee Honour)1863-?
Siblings were Arthur b. 1899; Emily b. 1895, Elllen E 1890, Harry P 1887, William R 1885-1919 and Amy Louisa 1883.
Would anyone know who she married if her surname changed please. Grateful for any info. :)

Thanks Maureen. I couldn't link her 2 middle names with Richard Pinder and I had her mmn. as Honour. I'll certainly see now if I can make a better link - sounds promising.

You're welcome.
I see that Arthur Robert PAIN's marriage to Hannah does list her mn as HONOUR but all the childrens' birth regs have it as HORNER.
You can see them at:
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/login.asp
Free to search but you do have to register. (sorry if you knew this. :) ).

I didn't, so thanks once again! No wonder I couldn't find any info on the children!

Hi again Maureen, at the risk of seeming a bit dim, I have to ask...... in your replies re above you say that going into the GRO site you can 'see that' children's names are under the surname Horner. Are you able to walk me through how to see this information. I only seem to work out the infor you gave for Alice, but am failing to find more details. I know (rolling my eyes too) ..... ::) ::)

Sorry! I think you may have misunderstood what I meant. (I wasn't very clear. ::) )
The children are registered as PAIN but with mmn as HORNER (not HONOUR).
For example:
GRO BIRTHS
PAIN, ALICE FLORENCE LOUISA mmn HORNER
1897 J Quarter in THANET Volume 02A Page 901
PAIN, ESTHER EMILY MAY mmn HORNER
1895 M Quarter in THANET Volume 02A Page 960

Ahh that makes more sense, silly me, so once again thanks.
If you really are 'inNY' hope it's not too cold wherever you are! Pat

:) :) :)
My fault. Sometimes I swear I couldn't explain my way out of a paper bag. ::) ::)
Weather hasn't been too cold but the constant snowstorms and nor'easters this month have been a little over the top. Spring had BETTER be around the corner!

I agree! We've been getting more than the usual snow/cold from the East this year too. Expecting more possibly this Sunday and always know it will be colder if you are getting it too. Take care.
