This info came from a letter written in Australia many years ago, can anyone help with the names of J B Litherland and his wife. I have no idea of the area.
Male first names unknown except initials. J B Litherland probably born England married unknown and they had no children. He died and she later married James Howard.
James Howard was a friend of J B Litherland and they came to this country together
James Howard had 3 sons , the eldest died 11 Oct 1960 aged 71. ( b c 1889 )
He had the name either " Litherland Howard" or "unknown Litherland Howard."
I have found this but don`t have full access.

Thanks, this confirms the JBL I found with parents in1861 is the right one. 1871 he is on a ship in Wales, not found in 1881 but could already be in Australia.

That's interesting, so he might have still been a seaman when he died.
-
He wasn't a seaman, his probate states he was a publican, I wonder why probate was dealt with London.

I am researching the Litherland family of Lancashire , one of whom went to Australia. The letter page is in the possession of one of that family still there and was found after the death of someone who was known to have been interested in the FH.
Only one page exists (2) and there are no other details. It`s known that the person who sent it many years ago is a descendant of James Howard and it was a reply to someone of the Lancashire family trying to find other Litherlands from England who were in Australia.
It was sent well before the days of internet etc, so using phone books and sending letters was the only way of contact.
We were wondering if the JB Litherland was part of the same family as the Lancashire Litherlands.
It`s amazing that we have found so much in a short time. Thanks everyone .
Hope that answers your question. :)
