We are researching Ethel Louise Carroll who was born 10th November 1912 in Camberwell London to Lucy Annie Babbs and James Carroll. We have the baptism records. We cannot find any other records for her. We found a death record for a Ethel L Carroll in Marlborough , Wiltshire in 1938 which fits with her age and birth year but no other records for her.
The reason we are researching Ethel Louise Carroll is because we did not know of her existence in the family until we found her baptism record. Her brothers, my uncles never mentioned that they had a younger sister. Not sure where else to search for information. Tried looking at Wiltshire burials but no luck there. Cannot understand why there was no mention in the family of her or why she may have ended up in Wiltshire - if the death record is her. Any help appreciated.

What happened to James and Lucy Annie Carroll - have you traced where they were in the 1930s?

James Carroll died in 1930 in 2nd quarter in Camberwell. We cannot find Lucy Annie after the 1911 census or any death record for her. We have their other two children Frank and Jim ( James Junior) on the 1939 record. Jim is living on his own and Frank is living with his wife. Both still in Southwark.

There is a Ethel L Carroll who married Sidney Lanceley second quarter 1927 Croydon Surrey.

Lancley rather than Lanceley, I think.
FreeBMD shows Lancley mmn Carrol(l) birth registrations in Croydon 1928, 1929, 1935, 1938, 1941.
However your Ethel would have been only 14 in Jun qtr 1927 - not 15 until November that year.

Checked this but it would mean Ethel would have been 15 when she got married so not sure.

Ethel Lilian Lancley died in SE Surrey in 1986 - birthdate shown as 28 July 1907.

There is a Lucy Annie Carroll at 12A Union St, Borough High St, Southwark in the 1931 electoral roll.

Found a death for a John A Carroll in Southwark 1947 - but no knowledge of this person in the family - similar to Ethel Louise Carroll..will keep John A Carroll on a back burner just in case he is ours.

The three children Jim 1905, Frank 1908 and Ethel Louise 1912 Carroll were all on the London Birth and Baptisms with mother Babbs and father James Carroll a tailor living in Peabody buildings Southwark. This does not discount the John A Carroll 1918 because the London Birth and Baptisms only go to 1916 so no way of proving that he belongs to this family although it does sound plausible.
