Title: Samuel Stevens - can this be restored & colourised?
Post by: Avondale16 on Monday 26 February 18 17:53 GMT (UK)
A photo of my great grand uncle decorating his 'Giant Christmas Cake' in his shop on Clapham Common c1925.

It is not of the best quality so anything that can be done to improve/colourise the image would be wonderful.

Thank you - what a difference from the old B&W image - I can now see the inside of the shop as well - an unexpected bonus!

Looks like a master craftsman at work, I wonder what this huge cake was for.

Great colours Pat - this was his annual Giant Xmas Cake - in total he made close to 50 of these & apparently one year he had a toy train running around the base! On the third tier up you can make out the iced words of 'Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year' - would you be able to highlight these words in whatever colour you think suitable & the re-post? Thank you so much.

Hi Keith, This is the best I can do, but you can see the words a bit better.

I'm amazed how the cleaning/colouring helps you see so much more detail in these old photos. Have you seen the one I posted of his shopfront?
