Title: Arthur Stevens in 1941 - badge query & colourising request
Post by: Avondale16 on Tuesday 27 February 18 16:15 GMT (UK)
Another image of my father taken after he joined the RAF & before going to the Far East

Can anyone help me with the badge/emblem on his right arm?

Would love a coloured version - he had black hair

Thanks
Keith

I think it is a Wireless Operator's badge Keith. RAF is close to my heart...My son is an interpreter..Flight Sergeant..RAF Air Crew.

Hi Carol - that would make sense - all I can remember him saying about his time in the RAF was that he was Ground Crew  :) & that he got his knees brown!

Aah! Carol - my dad would have loved this, he passed away 10 years ago this month so this is touching to see.

Thanks so much

As he described himself as ground crew he was probably a Radio Fitter tradesman, maintaining and servicing radio sets rather than a Wireless Operator.

Thank you Pablo for your version - his brylcreemed hair is just as I remember it!

Each version of this image gives me something different.
