Title: Marriage Certificate names
Post by: Alex Sharkey on Monday 05 March 18 08:35 GMT (UK)
I've posted this over here but I'm looking to see if anyone can help me decipher the fathers names (and the brackets underneath) of the two married on this document.

I know it's Morris and Minnie that got married (Minnie's surname is questionable as she was illiterate hence the Mark of Minnie).

Julcherowitz? Jutcherowitz?
Not sure if it is a "J" at the beginning, though. Can't see anything else like it on the cert.

And to me it looks as though they lived in Botty Street or Butty Street, so maybe I'm not providing the most reliable of contributions today..!  :o

The surname is of some dispute as I've seen it listed as Ketcherowitz, Ketcherov, Hutcherowitz. Doesn't help that she is from the Ukraine and completely illiterate!

The GRO have indexed the marriage under Kutcherowitz. (That was also my best guess before I checked the index.)

What is Morris' profession? (??? Pattern Cutter)

(The first letter could be the same as the first letter of Minnie's surname. Whoever wrote the cert wrote the first letter of her name slightly differently in the "Name and Surname" and "...solemnised between us" fields.)

Kutcherowitz or Kulcherowitz would be my reading of the surname.
