To me, it looks like 124. The 4 appears very similar to the 4 of the address above, as does the 2.

Hi steeles39, welcome to Rootschat  :)

To me it looks like 174.  I don't think the middle digit is a 2, it doesn't look like it is formed in the same way as the 2 in the groom's age or the 2 in the marriage date at the bottom.

The last figure is probably 9. Compare with the bride's age of 19 years.

I see 174 and that was my guess before I saw Jool's response.

I would agree with A. Chesters, and say that it is 124 Prescott Street.  The first address is 42 Benson Road.  Both the "2" and the "4" are written the same fashion in both addresses.

I think it is 129.

Add - or 179.

I agree 124 ... the couple are living at 42 Benson Rd in 1939.

I agree 124 ... the couple are living at 42 Benson Rd in 1939.

But compare the 9 in her age - 19. It's closer than the 4 in 42 Benson Road

I agree that they look very similar but when looking at the 9 on her age the first stroke is light and rounded but on the address it is a bold downward stroke making me believe it is a 4.  So I still vote for 124.

According to the 1939 Register, several of the houses in Prescott St were what would now be called "houses of multiple occupation" ... rather like bedsits perhaps.

I darkened the various numbers and now think it is a 4 - so vote for 124  :)
