Hi all,
I am hoping that someone with more knowledge can help me put the links together. Catherine Diamond was born Oct 1886 in Ireland to Patrick Diamond and Susan McGuigan. I think I have found her first marriage to William Walters 14 August 1905, to Geller before 1923, Molly and lastly to Harold Duryea. Catherine died on 15 June 1968 Age 81 in 11510 Baldwin, Nassau, New York.
Can anyone find any of the other weddings or find them in the census?
Thanks for all your help it is very much appreciated
-
Goodness 7/8 years since we looked for the Diamonds - doesn't time fly. ;)
For information purposes - in case an obituary could be found.
Catherine was Kathryn Duryea on the SSDI record - 28 October 1886 - June 1968
Last Residence 11510 Baldwin, Nassau, New York.

It remained a mystery which Harold Duryea she married ??? Did you have any further onformation on him ???
You did find that Kathryn Duryea was buried Gates of Heaven Cemetery - did you check with the cemetery to see if anyone else was buried with her ?
Sandra
-
There are a Harold A. Duryea and Kathryn M. Gibilisco who got their marriage license in New York City on 6 Apr. 1946. Thought it was a possibility if there was another marriage in there or if Geller was really a more complicated surname.
-
Looked at that same marriage entry - wondered if it was this guy who passed away 1961 (aged 74/75 years) wife Elizabeth Grennan had passed in 1944. Certainly the right age group Harold was born 13 July 1886. Find A Grave shows him buried with his wife Elizabeth who passed in 1944 ???
Buried - Cypress Hills Cemetery Brooklyn, Kings County (Brooklyn), New York.

Hi Sandra,
Thanks for all your help. Well this would help explain why she is not buried with her husband.
I know here in Ireland the husband always gets buried with the first wife.
Yep but Catherine was married to Molly they divorced and they had a daughter Marge Molly she was sown as Kathryn. Hope this helps the pieces will fit yet
Thanks for all your help

Hi Sandra
Could this be Harold either
Age: 69
Given Name: Harold
Middle Name:
Surname: Duryea
Name Suffix:
Birth Date: 03 Oct 1897
State: New York
Last Place of Residence: Nassau, New York
Previous Residence Postal Code: 11001
Event Date: Apr 1966
SSDI Record
Harold Duryea
Born 14 June 1902
Died Aug 1982
Last Residence/Benefit: 11530 Garden City, Nassau, New York
This could be him too
-
This seems odd but-as Sandra pointed out on the possible 1915 match-there's a daughter Margaret born abt 1912.
There's a 2003 death for Margaret J(osephine) MALLOY 24 June 2003 Naples Florida born 27 Nov 1911. Her father is listed as William T FELLOW :-\ and mother as Kathryn M Diamond.
Says her Last Benefit was at:11510, Baldwin, Nassau, New York, United States of America which is why I wondered.
How did you get the MOLLY surname please?
Sorry if I'm way out in left field! :)
Maureen
-
Hi Maureen,
I got the name from a member of the Diamond clan but was all they were able to tell me
This is the mum died at 11510 Baldwin, Nassau, New York. and she died 15 Jun 1968 - Age 81
and she was called Kathryn M Diamond as my aunt had a memorial card.
Kathryn was divorced from Molly before going on to marry Harold Duryea.
This all looks correct.
Thanks for all your help
Kieran

Great find Maureen. Marge Molly was mentioned here in 2010 - reply 132. Then mentioned again in reply 151 - and again in reply 181 - The information has been a little mixed up - Kathryn was suppose to marry Marge Molly but Marge Molly has turned out to be her daughter Margaret Malloy ::)

I'd really like to find Kathryn or Margaret in a census after 1915. Although I'm pretty sure you've found Margaret in 1940.

The 1920 death didn't seem to match the occupation of William in 1910/1915 (surveyor and inspector)
There were quite a few deaths of William Walters around that time.

New York Herald - 21 October 1904
JUDGE REUNITES WEDDED CHILDREN
Order Annulling Marriage of Mr. and Mrs Harold Duryea Is Now Cancelled.
BOY'S MOTHER REMAINS AWAY
Brooklyn Lad and Little Girl Hold Each Other's Hand In Court and Pathetic Scene Is Witnessed.
Judge Wiltnot M. Smith acted the part of a fairy godfather yesterday In the Special
Term of the Supreme Court, Brooklyn. When he annulled the annulment that had
separated Mr. and Mrs. Harold Duryea. of No. S3 Cumberland street Both are
several years short of their majority and hid been forced to separate by Harold's
mother, Mrs. Emma a Duryea, of No. 341 Reid Avenue
Sitting together and holding each other's hands, the young couple looked appeallingly
at the Judge while counsel was stating the case.Young Mrs. Duryea. who had been Miss
Elisabeth Grennan. told the Court that she would always love Harold and that if
necessary they would wait until they were of age and remarry. "His mother can at
best.'" she said, "only temporarily divide us" Death alone can part us forever."
Harold said he was of one mind with his wife, He declared his mother had no right
to come between them. "Elizabeth is my wife." he said, "and my wife she shall be
always."
Mrs. Duryea the elder, who had brought about the annulment on the ground that
her son was too young to know his own mind, to say nothing of assuming the cares
of matrimony, was not present.
Judge Smith was touched. There was the suspicion of a tear In his eye as he
said:—"Decree of annulment cancelled."
Then turning to the youthful couple he said:—"Go and be happy."
From the first the case has not been without its pathetic features. When young
Mrs. Duryea was served with the papers one year ago in the annulment suit she
was preparing dinner for Harold In their little flat in Dean street near Court street. I Lay
She and Harold had been playmates together and they were school children when they plighted there troth.
