According to GRO, Drusilla Ward married Thomas Potts in 1858 (Madeley, Sep 1858. 6a 988). However, starting with Nancy in 1859 through until Alice in 1881, every one of the eleven children has mmn of Weoberley, Webberley or Weberley. None is a Ward. I've not purchased the marriage certificate to see if that gives a clue to this name issue, but other than that, can anyone suggest an explanation? (Thomas and Drusilla were both, seemingly, born in Broseley in 1835-36.)
Thanks

Have you looked for a suitably-aged Drusilla in 1851, to see what her surname is?

Answering my own question, I see she is Drucilla Weobly in 1851, 16 b Broseley, in the household of John & Eliza.
Some transcriptions have the surname as Wevbly. HO107/1989/397/16

ShropshireBMD have the marriage taking place at Madeley Register Office or Registrar Attended.

1841 census, Broseley Wood
John Webley 30 collier Y
Eliza do 25 N
Eliza do 5 Y <<< is this Drusilla in disguise?
Mary do 2 Y
Abraham do 3mo Y

Thanks, avm228 and BumbleB, for this quick and useful sleuthing.
I have looked for a Drusilla first marriage to a Mr Ward (1851-1858), but have found nothing.
I can't see why she would have married using a false name, given that the Potts family stayed in the vicinity. What's more, she was not under age.

One possibility is that she was born as Ward, before the marriage of John and Eliza.
If John & Eliza actually married, that is!
He seems to be with a Clara by 1861: RG9/1859/59/19 (findable as Wrobley on Anc).

WEOBLEY, HARRIET, Mothers mn POPE

WEOBLEY, JOHN, Mothers mn POPE

I must say this one is very confusing!

It's great fun though, isn't it?
1881 Census Broseley
Eliza Weobley born 1812 Hythe Kent widow
Thomas born 1856-7 (actually 1855 under name Weberley) Broseley SON
plus a granddaughter of Eliza's.

Clara (1861 Census) was, I suspect, an enumerator or transcriber error.
Death: John Weberly, aged 64, 1866 Dec Qtr, Madeley, 6a 378
We now have just about everything except the answer to the original enigma. My thanks to you helpful people.
