Tips for doing research in Ireland.

Thank you conahy calling for that link. It's always good to be reminded of the things you have already been told and to be brought up to date on things like opening hours of research facilities. It's amazing how many things on that link that I had been told, but forgotten :)

I love the advice given! especially the thank you piece at the end.
Several years ago I contacted a depository for information with no success. Earlier this year out of the blue I received an email from a lady confirming my original query. She had come across old records and remembered my request and subsequent thanks 'although not successful'!

Thanks. I've bookmarked some links in it.

Great tips, conahy calling. I have been plodding along for years getting snippets of info on various family branches...but, the basic tips are the best. How many times have I gone down the wrong road because I did not follow the townland advice!!!
Many years ago I was involved in tourism and the amount of people who landed in Ireland with just their great grannies name and an expectation that everyone and anyone would plot their family history in four days!! :o :)

Shouldn't complain. They may have kept you and others in employment. ;D

Thank you for the positive feedback.
I must use some of the tips myself.
