Title: Ann(e) OXLADE, born c. 1690
Post by: nong43 on Wednesday 11 April 18 19:12 BST (UK)
Hello

I've managed to get my hands on a bunch of trees produced by a Peter Rowe in 1998, which has allowed me to add a handful of "new" (they're never truly new - they were always there) ancestors, including an Ann(e) OXLADE and her husband John FRAN(C)KLIN. (Married in Ellesborough on 3 April 1711).

For their ancestors, the tree they're on says "see tree 12". Unfortunately, this tree 12 isn't one of those in the combined PDF file I have.

A long shot, I know, but has anyone seen this tree 12, or otherwise know anything about the ancestors of one or both members of the couple? (I'm particularly interested in Ann(e)'s forebears).

Thanks in advance,

Martin

Try BucksFHS for a baptism search(£1), for a 100 year period for Buckinghamshire.

I doubt you'll find anything oline for that period.

Steve. :)

There is a lot of Franklin records in Little Kimble. I do have access to the records if you need a look up

Well done Piddington. :)

But, I would still suggest a BucksFHS search, as there maybe others to consider. For the sake of £1, it's well worth it. Plus, for a total of £14.....you could buy Little Kimble and Great Kimble Parish transcripts on CD or Book.  You get all the details(if they exist), which Family Search do not give.
Sadly, Ellesborough hasn't been published yet, but they do hold them in their database.

For the cost of the search it is well worth it. I do have both Little & great Kimble CDS. As one ancestor led to another.  ::)

So do I. ;)

I have quite few more.  Worked out cheaper than buying certs, and saving a fortune by not buying the wrong ones.. ;D

Thanks Piddington & Bucksboy

I ordered the Oxlade baptisms and marriages for 1538-1738. Not all parishes are accounted for (the Kimbles are missing), and marriages seem to be a bit thin on the ground. Re baptisms, the story is largely the same (missing Kimbles, among other parishes), but there are loads of baptisms in (Great) Marlow. (The Oxlade sisters are present, though).

As for the Franklins, I’d love to be able to take the family back a bit further, so if you can help there, Piddington, I’d really appreciate it. The Franklins have always intrigued me, ever since I found out one of my 6x great-grandmothers was given the frankly bizarre name “Collibary”.

Thanks

Martin

They won't be missing in other Parishes, if they were never there in the first place.  One of the problems is, the place of Baptism, isn't always the place of birth.

I've had a number of children born in London, pre 1830's, but baptised in Amersham, Bucks, and elsewhere.

Franklins, Franklyns etc, are all over Bucks.  Do you know what the main ocupation of your Franklins are.  There are quite a few that are Clerics of the Church.

Good luck, and good hunting. :)

Unfortunately I know nothing about the Franklins’ occupations. I do know that my ancestor Joseph Franklin (1728-1784) was renting a house to a Henry Golder at the time he died, with the landlordship subsequently being taken over by a John Cosier.
