Hello,
Below are a few ancestors who disappeared and I have never been able to trace.
Samuel Beagley, bricklayer. Born 1806, Farringdon, Hampshire. Last seen: 1851 Census, Berkshire. Boarding away from wife who he married in 1850 in Lambeth.
Henry and Sarah Stockton. Occupation: railway contractor. Both born in the early 1800s in Market Drayton, Shropshire. In Aston in 1841. In Shropshire in 1851. In Gloucestershire in 1861. Lived in Yorkshire for a time too.
Elizabeth Goddard, born Stockton, married first Harding/Harden. Born in 1840 in Midgley, Yorkshire, although she never knew her birthplace. Last seen on the 1891 Census in Boreham, Essex, before her husband died that same year.

Whilst the census records show Hunts and not Hampshire, I was going off Farringdon as p.o.b.

He married Susannah Watkins in 1824 in Kensington, and she died in 1847 in Lambeth.

Yes but she gives different birthplaces on the two census records she appears on (1881 and 1891). Her 1882 marriage gives her father as Henry Stockton. She had a number of children before this marriage happened.

The parish had some long name. I'll just check. There is an 1859 death in Windsor but that isn't him as another man lived in Windsor with the same name.

You are certain your Samuel married in 1850 to Miss Lucas - do you have her on any census??
If this is sso then I think your Samuel in 1851 is this one

but on census Jane when married to Samuel gives different age and p.o.b.
Very puzzling - can't be sure which Samuel died in 1864????

Samuel's wife of 1850 is living alone while he is boarding away on the 1851 Census, though I can't remember where. I didn't save the record as she's not an ancestor - I'm descended from his first wife.
As for the death, it is very confusing. Lots of bricklayers named Samuel Beagley it seems.

Is this is the wife, even though she is not related to your family but presumably the children are part of your family.
N B her place of birth has been transcribed as Frensham, Kent but the census reads more like Feversham/Faversham as the 1861 census

This is for Tammy Beagley and gives details of her marriage to Samuel and some detail re her father. The address is the same as 1861 census.
It is safe to assume, I would say that the death is him.

Yes, that is the correct reference for Sammerazin Beagley (formerly Lucas). My ancestor had married in Hampshire - the same village her father was from - in 1848.

Jane Beagley is still in Windsor as a widow in 1861 760/83/32
And there is a death for Samuel Bagley 55 yrs in 1859 in Windsor.

You have the marriage to Sam... or Tam...
You have the couple in separate places in 1851.
There is a possibility for 1861 but wife is named Jane
There is a death in 1864
Poor law record for wife in 1866 - wife Tammy with correct place of marriage and address
As the wife’s name is so tricky, I was thinking that Jane in 1861 should be Tam.../Sam... wife.
The place of birth for wife in 1851 and 1861 is the same.

Got it! It makes much more sense when it's spelled out like that. Sorry I'm a bit slow ;D I just need to locate a burial record for Samuel now, I found one for his first wife in Shoreditch courtesy of a kind member.
