Hi,
I am really hoping some kind person will be able to help me as I am a little out my depth here :-\
I am helping a friend try and find information on their Father, and hopefully a photograph or two?! Let me give you some background info...
John EISLER was born 8-1-1924 in the UK district of Marylebone. 1939 saw him at boarding school, Aldenham in Elstree.
He out to Kenya on 25th August1947 aged only 22 and was an Inspector in the Police becoming an Acting Assistant Superintendent in 1952. He was living in Nairobi in 1958 with his wife Zoe and two children were born out there. The family then moved back to England (Harpenden) in July 1959. John passed away in 1980.
I have emailed the Kenya Police (twice) to see if they have any photo's they would be able to share but as yet heard nothing. I am hoping someone may be able to suggest a different avenue for me to try or even have a contact in Nairobi who may be able to help?
Many thanks in advance

As you have had no response from the Kenya Police, have you tried the Kenya Police Association Archive?

The web page has a contact e-mail.

Hi,
I noted your request for information on John EISLER - old request but noting lost as I was working on his profile tonight anyway.
I have carried out quite a bit of Kenya Police research on him as part of my general colonial police interest - My project on him and many others is ongoing, but I am happy to help.
His father Percy was born in Hungary, John joined the Indian Army as 2nd Lt in Oct 1943, serving in Burma in WW2 (possibly later in Singapore) with the 1st Punjab Regiment, still noted as serving in April 1946. I have all his Kenya Police dates of service and postings, he was one of the first two new arrivals to go into to Special Branch. His hobbies in Kenya were Polo (obviously picked up from the Indian Army) and yachting. I still have him recorded as serving up to 1963 early 1964 as Superintendent in Mombasa.

Hi Wendy,
Happy to supply, but easier to post as I have quite a bit which I could only scan in a limited form, plus fair quality group photo.
I am unsure if there is anyway to send hard copy to your home address?
Have you any idea of - When and where he was married - I know he had children, anymore about his life pre 1943 when he went to India or Burma, or anything of his his service in the Punjab Regiment in WW2 , or later in the Kenya Police - or what civil job he had when he returned from Kenya?

Hi Mac,
I've just spoken with Richard's partner and we wondered if I gave you Richard's email etc it may be easier and more personal if you communicated directly to him?
I am very interested but feel as it is quite personal perhaps I should step back, plus he can probably tell you a bit more about the man himself than I can?
Thank you again for the contact I'll send you a pm with details
Best Wishes
Wendy
