Title: Daniel Stockton, born Cheshire 1928, possibly joined US Navy 1863
Post by: ruthhopkins_ on Thursday 31 May 18 19:27 BST (UK)
Hello,

I have been researching a relative who was born in Cheshire in 1828, but seems to drop off the records after the 1951 census. I found a passenger list in 1852 to New York with a Daniel Stockton listed, and then a US Naval Enlistment record in 1863 in Illinois, which states his birthplace as England.

As I can not access any US records, I was hoping someone may have some information and be able to join the dots, to see if this is the same person, and ultimately find out what happened to him.

Thank you,

Ruth

You can see those specific records and many other US records for free at FamilySearch.

I cannot any sign of this man beyond the two records you have mentioned.  Do you have any additional information that might help?  His middle name, any other family members who went to North America?
