There is also a Frederick J Griffin born about 1878 England on the 1930 USA census living at New Trier, Cook, Illinois, USA with wife Lizzie and son Lionel (aged 18) Frederick was a groom. Might be worth looking at that one. It doesn't say where in England he was born though.

The Brighton death is possibly the Frederick J Griffin b 31st December 1878 married to a Florence L?

Is Hildine the "Rosey" in the 1891 census?

I agree that the death could be for the Frederick John Griffin who married Florence Lottie Howe
I found them on the 1939 ration census and it is a different Frederick
I checked the US census and looked at Frederick J Griffin living at New Trier Illinois with his wife Lizzie and son and it indicates they arrived in the US in 1914 and Lionel was born in the UK circa 1912
I found Lionel M their son and I am quite certain that his father Frederick is not I am looking for
as his name is Frederick James Newton Griffin.
Name: Lionel Murlis Griffin
Gender: Male
Christening Age: 0
Birth Date: 20 Jan 1912
Christening Date: 10 Apr 1912
Christening Place: Bristol, Gloucestershire, England
Phillimore Ecclesiastical Parish Map:

Father: Frederick James Newton Griffin
Mother: Lizzie Winifred Kate Griffin
That does not fit as I have never seen the name Newton
Hanes, Hildine is the Rosey and Eliza her mother is in Rye with a mixed bag of half brothers and Hildine. Eliza's mother Charlotte led a very full life.
I am starting to think that Frederick James is going to be one of the ones I dont have a breakthrough on as the information I can give about him is so sparse records wise and the family story about going to the Us was told to me by my wifes uncle who said his mother told him but she was born 12 years after Frederick so it may not be correct.

I agree Jon that it says Sussex
This looks promising. I notice he was going to Toronto and he was a laborer and he was had 0 dollars on him. I will follow him up in Canada now which is where his younger sister went when she married just after World War 1.
I wonder where he was in the 1901 British census. If I could find him on that it would really help
Thank you so much for finding that record.
