Title: HUTCHCRAFT in Ramsey/Upwood
Post by: JAKnighton on Sunday 24 June 18 10:11 BST (UK)
I have traced my Hutchcraft ancestors back to a Stephen Hutchcraft who lived in Upwood who was born in approximately 1774.

I have access to the Upwood parish registers and haven't found a baptism for him.

According to the Pedigree Resource File on FamilySearch, Stephen Hutchcraft's parents were a William Hutchcraft and Elizabeth Young who were married in Ramsey on 01 Oct 1751.

This is all user-submitted information and I would rather trust actual parish records. Can anyone check to see if this marriage exists please, and if there is a baptism for Stephen in Ramsey?

Thank you.

Can't see a baptism for Stephen but the William Hutchcraft/Elizabeth Young marriage is on FreeReg.

The NBI also has a burial for a Stephen Hutchcraft 10 January 1837 in Upwood and Gt Raveley aged 63.

baptism at St Thomas a Becket, Ramsey 22 July 1774
Stephen s/o William and Elizabeth Hutchcraft

There are 11 baptisms at Ramsey of children of William and Elizabeth between 1753 and 1774.

The earliest baptism of a Hutchcraft at Ramsey is William, s/o Thomas and Ann on 15 March 1722/3.
There are no other baptisms of a William in the right time frame, so this may be the man who married Elizabeth Young.

Thomas Hutchcraft married Ann Bishop at Ramsey on 28 September 1721

Elizabeth Young, d/o Thomas and Elizabeth was baptised 18 February 1721/2.  Again, there are no other likely baptisms at Ramsey.
Thomas and Elizabeth Young did not baptise any other children at Ramsey, nor did they marry there.
Elizabeth Young, wife of Thomas was buried at Ramsey on 19 September 1723.
