Title: Lea Baptism
Post by: lalkav on Tuesday 10 July 18 22:25 BST (UK)
I'm looking for a baptism in Lea for Samuel Gray. When I've searched on FindMyPast there seems to be a gap between 1766 and 1805 which is the time period that I'm looking for. Does anyone know why they're missing and if these records are available at the Lincolnshire Archives? Thanks

This is the record set on Lincstothepast that should include the registers for this period:

If he married Ann Wilson 14 Nov 1803 in Lea and the record says of this Parish it does not mean he was born there.
They were Bachelor/Spinster.

Having said that we have;

ANC has a England Birth/Christening;
SAMUEL Grey Baptised 18 Feb 1753 Lea, Lincs to JOHN/SARAH********

Burials FreeREG;
SAMUEL Gray, 17 Nov 1837 St Helen, Lea, age 85 (1752)
Abode Gainsborough
ANN Gray    21 Aug 1855 same Church age 77 (1778), abode Gainsborough
So Ann was a lot younger

Their Childrens Baptisms Lea;
WILLIAM 29 May 1805

Yes he did marry Ann Wilson. I've only seen transcriptions and not the actual records. I'd seen Samuel Grey b1753 and wondered if he was his father but needed to look at the records to see if there was another one nearer to the age of his wife Ann. It does look like those are the deaths of both Samuel and Ann as Samuel is not on any census and Ann disappears after 1851. I'll have a look at John Gray.

Thankyou Trish.  :)
