Your date of mid-1800's was very misleading!
-
Even more annoying is the fact that googling 'martha mussen collins' easily finds the earlier RC thread ::)

There is probably relevant stuff there!

Lots there which is how I found the family. As I said, very easily found via Google.

Apologies Aghadowey & hallmark. I provided the information I was given, naturally I didnt intend it to be misleading and I never thought of doing a Google search! Ive been dipping in and out of research for a while and am continually learning. Many thanks anyway despite the hassle. Much appreciated.

Martha Collins married 1899 to Alexander Mussen- no occupation given- LINK (https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1899/10387/5782134.pdf)
Hi Dave,
I have Martha W. Collins marrying Alexander Mussen 20 Aug 1899 Largy P, Limavady. She must have died soon after as Alexander is found remarrying in the US in 1902. Do you have any records of her death or any other Mussen family information.
Thank you! G.

Hello Jackie Line.
I am told Martha was indeed a nurse in Royal hospital Belfast. No further information on this though.

Did Martha Mussen have any children?

Which Martha Mussen?

Martha Mussen Collins, born 14 May 1901, Longfield, Desertmartin parish, died 22 April 1919, Grange, Cookstown. Her parents where John Witherow Collins of Longfield and Agnes Smyth, daughter of Alexander Smyth of Grange, Cookstown. They married at Cookstown 2nd Presbyterian on 31 Oct 1899.
John Witherow Collins was born 12 Nov 1868, Longfield, to Stewart Collins (c1840-1893) of Longfield and Mary Crosset (c1839-1879), daughter of Richard Crosset of Coolshinney, Magherafelt. Stewart and Mary married on 4 Jun 1867, Magherafelt Presbyterian Church.
Stewart Collins was born around 1840 to John Collins (c1799-1881) of Longfield and a Martha (c1803-1889), and died on 9 Jan 1893, Longfield. According to someone else on this site John Collins was the son of John Collins and Mary Witherow. John's likely father was a James Collins of Longfield (c1760-1851).
I will add that the John Collins and Martha and John Collins and Mary Witherow information gleaned from the other thread linked to already in this discussion is quite suspect and I have reason to believe that John and Martha and John and Mary Witherow are the same people. Or that instead of John and Mary Witherow it should be James and Mary. It is quite confusing and we'll probably never find out.
