Hi
I'm trying to find more about the above person, who is recorded on a tree as an ancestor of one of my DNA matches. The dates that I have are from the tree and his cemetery/cremation entry in Waikimete cemetery, Auckland - died 4/12/78, cremated 6/12/1978. to T.O.P. 22/12/1978. scattered 20/5/1980. Aged 28, a builder.
I also find him on an Electoral register, living at 5 De Val(l) Drive, Auckland in 1978. He is recorded as an Insurance Agent rather than a builder.
Would love to know more about his parents, marriage, obit, etc. I'm exploring his partner's line but have not found a link there so far.
Thanks ever so

Hi Gadget,
You should be able to get the obit through the Funeral Director, which was Tilton Opie and Pattison Limited. Janette usually suggests copy and paste the information from the cemetery website as the body of the email. You should also ask for a copy of the Death Certificate which will name parents.
Anything to add that I have forgotten Janette?
Cheers

Thanks, both :)
I'll contact the Funeral Directors tomorrow. I got the cemetery details from Ancestry so glad it's the same as the details you've found, Janette, I always worry about the accuracy of some of the collections.
I also found a part obit of one of the other side in the New Zealand Herald but only an excerpt. I'll start a new thread for that.
I can't think where the link can be because the other side goes back to the 1860s in NZ. I remember you both helping me with a cousin who came over, first to Aus and then NZ but she didn't have any children.

Hi.
Can add to my other lookups the next time I attend the Auckland office of Archives NZ. But it will be some weeks away. It's a busy time on the farm just now. Will let you know in due course if I obtain photos of the inquest file.

Alan,
It is not an inquest file,it is a probate file. The inquest is closed for another 10 years and is in Wellington,

Hi.
Just a slip up of the tongue - too much on the go at the moment. As long as I have the correct [Auckland Archive]request number in my book, I can grab some photos the next time I'm passing the Archive. Now have three requests, plus all the deed look ups I'm doing. Must also remember to have my reader card on my person. Now ID checks are required each visit.

Thanks very much Alan, also for the message on other thread.

Just a further query:
KHP, you suggested I should get the death cert, but the death was too recent to apply online. Is there another way, please?

If you contact the funeral director they should have all the information that is on the death registration as it is them that register the death with Internal Affairs.
Ask them for all they have on file.

Sorry I wasn't more clear on that, I did mean to ask the Funeral Directors.

Thanks.
I'm surprised that they would provide me with death cert info when it's not possible to get it through your Reg services.
How much would they charge?

Funeral directors don't charge for the information.I have usually just copied a pasted the cemetery records and asked them if they can help with what they have on file.
Cheers Janette

Will see how much info they have then :)

Hi Gadget,
Quite the coincidence, my wife was looking for an old photo of Rex and did a quick and found your post. Rex was my father.... feel free to PM me if you want more information.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Ben :)
Welcome and thank you. I'll be in touch. I think you will need to make a couple more posts before you can PM, so just answer this message a couple of times - say something like OK or whatever. That should be fine.
As you can see, I'm trying to work out how I'm connected to your family.
