Hi Leagle1,
It seems that we're related. My great great grandparents were Peter Gallagher and Ellen Quigley and my great grandfather was Edward, Charlie Gallagher's elder brother. I'd be very interested in any information which you may have.
Hi wms, that is my dad sorry about the email address its w.stewart67@ntlworld.com
Your dad was John Stewart, son of Geordie? Would that be Wee Geordie married to Gretta McGrory?
If so, John was my cousin.
Helen
b.t.w - I tried your email address, it bounced back ??
Hello, I'm new here. Very intersted in all the previous replies. No connections to my family so far though.Hi firsttimer,
I'd really be interested to know if anyone on here has any recollection of a family called McDermid. Mum and Dad John and Margaret. Children: Barbara (my great granny), Donald, Sarah, Patrick, Mary, Christina and Isabella. All of these children were born around 1885 - 1896 and all have addresses at Veitch's Court, Duntocher. I have more information on them if anyone has any connection or handed down memories.
Thanks
firsttimer

Wow! Nice lot of Cassidy's and other Duntocher names there! :)
My Mother's great friend at St. Mary's school in the 1930's was Annie Cassidy - they used to tease each other by finding worms and chasing one another.
Much better than video games - don't you agree? LOL! ;D
hi all . oh what a great website . i had family in duntocher ( casey s ) and we had kelly relatives 2 there ... HI marie , just came across this website most of our family moved to australia ( peter marie & family)and would love 2 know where they went
Hi,
not sure where to start here. Finding this site very interesting. My Dad stayed in Duntocher all his life, his name was Frank Kelly, he had 2 sisters and 1 brother who died in 1935. His mother was Agnes Cassidy, died in 1993 and his father was Patrick Kelly who died in 1942.
I read a post about someone knowing Annie Cassidy, I'm sure that would be my Dads Auntie.
Dad stayed in Carleith Ave and Old Street in Duntocher. Then they moved to Hillend Cresc.
Anyone know them?
Would be good to know more about my Dads childhood as he recently passed away. I loved him telling all his stories...mostly football!!
Thanks
Marie
I I wondered if anybody has any information on the Dochertys of Duntocher. My husbands grandfather was Albert James Dockery born in Duntocher 1901 and married Ann Hamilton in 1919 St Patricks Church. His father was Patrick Dockery from Ireland who married Sarah Judge and died in New Street, Duntocher in 1915. They lived in New Street, Duntocher. Thanks
So he is standing next to my uncle Tommy Stewart, yes? That's brilliant. ;D
Helen
Hi there
Who's your husband as he must be my cousin? The actual spelling of the name is Dockery. Albert died before I was born and my granny (Annie) died when I was a teenager. Their family consisted of Albert, Patrick, Andrew, Beasie & Mary (twins) but Mary died when young, William and Brenda. My cousin has researched the family back over the last two hundred years and has the family tree so if you'd like more info I'm sure I can put you in touch with him. Hi Debbie, is you granmother; "Maggie Stewart" also Known as Gretta Coyle? and is Gretta (number vii child of Flora and William Stewart) the Brother of Thomas Stewart?
Margaret Sarah xx
I'm trying to track down information on John Stewart. This John Stewart is in my family tree. My mother is a Currie by birth and is decended down through Agnes's brother Daniel. I just happened to be looking for information on another John Stewart and came across this John by googling. I love that a whole new chapter of research has opened up for me. If any one has any more information on the Stewart family please email me! chavez0605yahoocom
According to his death certificate, he was born in Duntocher in 1817. However, the 1851 Canada West census has him being born in 1821. He died in June 1873 in Lanark County, Ontario.
His wife was Agnes Currie, born in 1821 in Lanark County, Canada West. Agnes' father was a Daniel Currie and her mother was Jane Stewart. Both of whom died in Lanark County, Ontario.
That's all I've got, which isn't much.
Thanks.

Hi,
I'm afraid I don't have much on the Kirkwoods.
My James Stewart, born abt. 1909 Duntocher, married Ina Williamina Kirkwood.
James was the son of William Stewart and Flora Murray. I would love to find out more about Ina, if you recognize her?
Debbie
Hi,
I have just recently started researching my family tree and this is the 1st time that i have been on this website.
My maternal grandfather was a Mochan from Duntocher, his father John Mochan (married to Catherine McGlinchey) was born in Duntocher in 1878. His father Michael (married to Mary O'Donnell) was born in Ireland in 1843.

I have been told that there is a photo of our grandfather William Stewart that has been copied and shared in Duntocher - a copy never made it across the sea to my family - is there any chance at all that you could try and find a copy? William died when my mam was 13, and I've never seen a photo of him.
Helen
try facebook as she has changed her name. under Hudon.
Helen et al,
I've now managed to find Mary Gallacher on the death register (Nov 1921). The death was registered in Greenock (44 Union Street) although her usual address was given as New Street Duntocher.
Anyway problem solved - for the moment.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Gerry,
We share the same GG grandparents! Thanks for uploading Mary Gallachers death certificate, I had been unable to find that too. Think, on reading through this site that I may also share ancestors with a few others on this forum!
Hi Paul,

Hi. I am looking for relatives from the Duntocher area. Sadie Thomson (Main)... Sister to Mary Main (my grandmother). She and most of my long-lost relatives are from the Duntocher and Clydebank area. Any info would be great!
So he is standing next to my uncle Tommy Stewart, yes? That's brilliant. ;DI'm new to the site, I live in Grimsby, Ontario, my mother was born in Duntocher, her name was Ellen Stewart, My Grandfather was James Stewart, his mother was Roseann Gallagher (Gallacher) from Ireland, he had two brothers Charlie and Richard and a sister Hannah
Helen
Hi Henry,
My Mochan's and Hamills are related through marriage. Do you have any Mochans?
My cousin Deb will no doubt recognise all the other names you have mentioned.
Helen
Hi,
It is great to hear from you. I'm not sure just how the Duffys and Kellys are related to the Molloys, or is it the Dempsey's? That is part of the family tree that I don't have sorted. I do know that my grandfather John Molloy's mother was Ellen Gallagher. Her father was Hugh Gallagher.
I still have an uncle living in Duntocher. He was married to my mum's sister who died a few years ago.
We live in Canada and my mum lives quite far from me, but she will be visiting in the new year and we plan on spending some time going over family history. Maybe we can arrange something then, or perhaps earlier.
Happy Christmas to you all,
Rob
Hi Debbie, is you granmother; "Maggie Stewart" also Known as Gretta Coyle? and is Gretta (number vii child of Flora and William Stewart) the Brother of Thomas Stewart? I've managed to contact my Cousin Jim, Jim is the son of Aunt Cissie (1st daughter of Thomas Stewart) Cissie is on the left while Sadie 2nd Daughter is on the right). Both now deceased. He said it was OK to post this photo on the sight; hopefully there are cousins out there somewhere. (Children of Thomas Stewart & Cissie Sweeney) Any news about the Stewarts will be very welcome.

[/quote Thomas Stewart and Mary Sweeny are my grand parents.]
Hi,
I have just recently started researching my family tree and this is the 1st time that i have been on this website.
I have a bit of stuff on Mochan and Hamills And a little on Simpson and Provan I can drop you a tree link by pm ? You can check but I’m sure we are on the same path
My maternal grandfather was a Mochan from Duntocher, his father John Mochan (married to Catherine McGlinchey) was born in Duntocher in 1878. His father Michael (married to Mary O'Donnell) was born in Ireland in 1843.
I believe Michael Mochan and Mary O’Donnell are John and Annie’s parents ?There's no need to be uncertain about this. If they were married in Scotland, their marriage certificates will tell you the full names of their parents including their mother's (or mothers') maiden surname(s). You can get those certificates from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk at modest cost.
