Hi,

Delilah Stanworth is also a relative of mine.  My grandmother was named after her.

I was just looking for someone in the 1939 register and they are at Otter Hills, Sleightholmedale, Kirbymoorside RD (George S Bartram born 3/2/1900).

Hi,

I'm pretty sure I've come across Otterills, Hotter Hill etc before and it was possibly in the Kirbymoorside records, though wouldn't stake my life on it.  May be worth a check as they have Dade records so if you can pinpoint the right family it will take you back a generation or two.

Many thanks for your very helpful replies.  I will try and follow up on the information.  The James Peacock in the ships musters sounds like he could be a candidate.

Hi,

James Peacock born 1742 Borrowby, Yorkshire son of Thomas Peacock (James was a lapsed Quaker).  Unfortunately I don't know which regiment he served in.  I know he was a soldier from the baptism records of his children and that he died in the American Revolution from a record for one of his children.

Thank you for the list of regiments.  Perhaps I need to pop over to Kew and look at any records they may have

Thank you for your reply.

His name is James Peacock.  One of his sons, who I think was also called James, apparently died in the marine service some time before 1817, but again I don't know where to start with that.  Would that be the Royal Navy do you think.

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction to obtain further information on the above.  I have a Yorkshire soldier (Northallerton area of North Yorkshire), born approximately 1743, who died in the American Revolution but have no idea where to start.

Thank you
