update on this thread Maria mother of James Winfield Jordan death cert states she was 71 however burial info says 79 which is the right dates for all other data i have on her, buried beechworth in unmarked grave with a further interment of another in 1940, death cert mentions no children and only has married no further info on cert. james and ellen moved to Christchurch nz circa 1876 and had 2 more boys born nz. james and ellen are both buried in karori cemetery wellington nz, shipping data on james going to australia looks like the family or part of it travelled on the james baines arriving in melb 1856, his father looks as though he has been a transcribe error his Fathers name on marriage cert is thomas however on the shipping list its listed as M .. a case of scribble being deciphered wrong as it looks nothing like the M on the mrs jordan (his wife) below his listing, most of the riddle solved thanks to all that helped i just now need to track down several of james siblings

Have unravelled some of the web

James Jordan snr child eveline / evaline/ evelyn metioned in the papers past regarding the students of truth / temple of truth did i fact marry the man in the article Arthur Bentley Worthington in a registry marriage after one of the members of the group refused to marry them, they married chch Aug 3 1895 and had a son Arthur gladestone worthington in NZ 3 nov 1898, cannot find any further data on the 3 of them in NZ and they have gone back to tasmania or to the states where arthur snr was from.

Have just got 2 newspaper articles from USA about him one saying that he had been stripped of his clergy and saying he was convicted for fraud in 1902 in Australia in regards to the temple of truth and the other one saying that he died suddenly in gaol dec 1917 in the states.

There are 2 matches on my ancestry site for his son one for 1917-1918 reg cards ww1 and other death index in the states, however not paid up so cant see any further

Have just got my Gt Grandfathers death cert and it says that James Winfield Jordan was born Galway Ireland to John Jordan and Maria Jordan nee Kelly in c1835.

James is then recorded as marrying in Victoria Australia in 1858 and dying in New Zealand 1907, so looking for data on his birth, his parents and possible siblings, his departure to Aus , did he go alone or with family or was he deported [cant find any convict records in aus for him] only for his wifes parents.
