Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Decipher name please

Thank you for your suggestions everyone. I too thought Gavin H but I’m still unsure.

The scene is of Dysart harbour in Fife.

Gadget, I might just go with your suggestion to contact some local artists. No harm in trying anyway.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Decipher name please
« on: Monday 22 August 22 23:08 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help decipher the name please? It’s from a landscape painting from my mum’s house. She sadly passed away last year. I’m certain she was gifted the painting by a local amateur artist and if they’re still alive I’d love to try and get in touch with them but I’m struggling to work out their name.

I accepted a long time ago that was likely the case.  I have copies for most of their children and the date of marriage provided is actually that of Alexander's marriage to his first wife, and not to Catherine.

Mike... I've not been on here for such a long time, are you still around I wonder?  Would be good to hook up and exchange notes.

Did you ever find the list kjmck?

This is the one you're referring to - it's on an excel spreadsheet: http://www.collgenealogy.com/Census/Coll1776.xls courtesy of www.collgenealogy.com

None of these guys are ringing any bells, which is a shame.  Oh well, thank you so much for taking the time to list them all for me Norrie.  Don't know what this place would do without you.  :)

Hi Rosie, got your details.

Next time I'm there I'll go have a look for you and see what I can do (weather permitting).

I'm not so mobile as I once was due to arthritis in both hips, but nevertheless will gladly go hunting for you because I might find some connected to my partner's family as well.  This cemetery is long overdue a visit by me.  :)

Rosie have you had any success with this yet?  I note you posted this back in September.  I visit Cardenden often because my partner's family lives there, just wanted to check whether you have since been able to get a photograph.

Hi Norrie,

I see you have 'Holmes' listed - do you by chance have a William Holmes and Alice Allan?

Also looking for their daughter Margaret Holmes, who died within 1 year of being born, in 1934.

Also John Holmes and Ann Reid, and sons William (1932) and John (1937), who both died very young.

And any other Holmes you may care to enlighten me about if there's not too many, because they may be connected.

Thanks in advance,
Jo
