Hi Carole

I want to find the baptism because I can't. Daft, I know but that's me :)
I also want his siblings birthdates but can't find them either. I figure if I find one, I get them all (well, I used to think that!)

Emma did marry James in 1881 - I have their cert.
She didn't marry Joe.

When Robert married, there is no father listed - that was why I started on the search lol

In 1901, Joe is with another "wife" I think.

No one with the names Aveyard or Bailey are living on that road in 1901. Since they married in Wakefield, it's likely that Annie was from there.

Do you have their marriage cert to get their ages and fathers?

The only way to find an address is to search the 1901 site... http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/
1891 is not searchable by address.
To search either of these manually would take a very long time.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Help/advice needed to find Baptism c1893
« on: Sunday 22 October 06 19:45 BST (UK)  »
I have a problem with my GGrandfather (well, I have a few, but one at a time! lol)

I have his birth cert for 22 Apr 1893. He was born at Listing Lane, Littletown in Liversedge (Spen Valley, near Cleckheaton).

I have his marriage in 1919, in Cleckheaton.
He died in 1953.

His name on his birth cert is Robert Crawshaw, son of Emma Ann Siddle (nee Haigh) and Joseph Crawshaw.
On his marriage and death, he appears as Siddle.

I have searched through countless churches and have found some of his siblings, namely Alonzo in 1889 and Olive in 1892. They were both baptised at Liversedge Parish Church 2 years after they were born. I cannot find any of the other children:

Clara Elizabeth Haigh, born 1879 Dewsbury
Tedbor Siddle, born 1882 Heckmondwike
Jane Ann Siddle, born 1885 Liversedge
Amanda Crawshaw, born 1891 Liversedge
Ada Crawshaw, born 1896 Liversedge
Norah Crawshaw, born 1898 Gomersal

From Listing Lane, the family moved to Walker Street which I believe was also in the Littletown area.

I've looked at churches in Liversedge, Cleckheaton, Bradford, Heckmondwike and Dewsbury but I have not found anything.

Can anyone suggest what else I can do to find the others, or if there would be another explanation of why they are missing?

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Opinions needed about family (Siddle)

Hi Carol

It could well be that we are related :)

James, son of George, was married to my 2xGGrandmother. She had 2 children with him, then 5 more with a man who wasn't her husband. My GGrandfather was born a Crawshaw, but died a Siddle (hence my confusion!).

I am tracing both lines so I can give my Grandmother (who is a Siddle) the information on them (the Siddle line so she doesn't get upset lol). I can't decide which ones to keep in my tree, so I have both of them.

I'll PM you with my email details and some more information about what I know :)

Thanks for your replies :)

I think, until I get the marriage cert (in a few years lol), I'll assume it's the same one.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Areas of Leeds?

I have an ancestor who was from Leeds. On two censuses, she claims to have been born in Wortley. In the others, it just says Leeds.

Now, onto my query...

In 1841, I have found a person of the same name, living in Holbeck, which is where her first child was born in 1841.

I have found her baptism on the IGI, but it comes under Rothwell.

Is it the same person, or shall I go back to the drawing board?

(I don't have her marriage cert yet)
