Surrey / Burials at St Nicholas Sutton, Surrey
« on: Sunday 25 February 18 00:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Everyone from Australia,
I wonder if anyone who lives near St Nicholas could look and see if the Caslake family graves are still visible. I know Samuel (d 1831) and his wife Elizabeth (d 1816) are buried there with their son Samuel (d 1854) and his wife Sarah (d 1866). Also their son Devereux (d 1878 )

Samuel and Elizabeth's daughters Sarah Greenaway (d 1860), Elizabeth Young (d 1860) and Mary Hall ( d 1861) are also buried there and possibly daughter Barbara Caslake (d 1883). Barbara donated money in her will for the upkeep of the graves and money for 12 poor folk each year to buy coal.

All help very gratefully appreciated. I contacted the Church a few weeks ago but as yet have no reply. Many thanks, AMH

London and Middlesex / What did a Factor do?
« on: Saturday 23 December 17 01:29 GMT (UK)  »
I have Ambrose Hall listed as a factor in the City of London in the 1700s, later a merchant, but can't find what he actually did. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Staffordshire / Holland from Over Areley
« on: Saturday 28 October 17 03:19 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I hope someone may have information about the Holland family from Over-Areley in the 1600s. I'm looking for 2 connections. From a small tree listed in the Visitation of Surrey in 1662, it shows Rev John Holland rector of Holy Trinity Guildford, previously from Over-Areley. His parents were John Holland and Elizabeth Southall, and grandfather was Richard Holland of Hawkebatch, Over-Areley. This Richard is "descended out of Salop".  Does anyone know where these Hollands originated from in Shropshire? I have Holland connections with Hammonds in the Parishes of Eaton Under Heywood, and Cleobury North in Shropshire.

Also looking for a connection of Philip Holland from Shere in Surrey, born about 1720, died 1770, who I think is a grandson of  Rev John Holland of Holy Trinity mentioned above with wife Barbara Love of Gretham, Southampton.

Thank you,
AMH

Shropshire / Re: Wills of 1700

Thank you Clayton, that sounds logical, as in one will it's listed after a heifer, and a chest, so possibly in decreasing order of importance.

Shropshire / Wills of 1700
« on: Wednesday 21 December 16 10:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all,
I've been looking at wills about 1700 and in two of them have found that one of the items bequeathed seems to read Iron Marmaset(t). Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
Thank you,
AMH

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Hammond of Gawsworth
« on: Thursday 01 December 16 11:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hello and thank you for your interest and replies. I have noted the burial from the Gawsworth Registers, but wonder of he and Alice have a headstone, or whether they could be buried at Charlecote.
