Sorry, the birth date should be around 1805.

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had access to these as they aren't on IGI and I can't get to the Devon Records Office.

I am trying to trace back from Honor Williams born approximately 1815 and married William Counter in approxiamtely 1820.  According to an index of headstones in Eggbuckland Church she died in 1829.  In the same grave were her son, Richard, and Anna Williams (who I'm assuming to be her sister).  Anna's parents are given as Henry and Jane Williams.

I'm interested in any further information on Henry and Jane - other children, their marriage.

Thank you

Jo

Armed Forces / John Fowler - Greenwich pensioner
« on: Thursday 04 August 11 09:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am trying to find out more about my ancestor John Fowler (in the hope that I can trace his family back).

What I know is that he was born in approximately 1805 in Birmingham.  By late 1830s he is in Plymouth and has married(?) Mary Bebell.  On a child's birth certificate in 1838 he is a private in the Royal Marines.  He was in the Isle of Ascension around 1841/42 as another child was born there.  In the 1851 census he was a Greenwich pensioner.

I've tried the NA, FindMyPast and A****try but can't see him there.

I would be grateful for any information which I can be pointed in the direction of.

Hi

I am curious about my ancestor Edward Higgins as on all census 1851 - 1901 he is listed as boatman/waterman but on the 1911 census his occupation is given as navel pensioner.

I've searched through the NA, FindMyPast and A****try but can't identify him in any of the records there.

What I do know is:

He was born approximately 1836, in Plymouth, parents James and Jane.  At his marriage to Ellen Coles in 1857 his profession was seaman.

I'd be grateful for information or directions to where anything can be found.

Thnaks

Hi

Thanks for the help.

I think I'm going to stick with this family being the right one.  Looking at the 1881 census again, it states that the daughter Mary Jane is married which fits with the marriage to John Counter in 1878 but doesn't explain why she's both with her parents in Bristol and her husband in Plymouth at the same time!
