« on: Tuesday 06 June 17 20:37 BST (UK)  »
Taken from Cowlinge parish register

Henry Prigg - full age - widower - labourer
Amy Hazle - full age - widow - (says labourer?)
3rd February 1838
Both of this parish
Fathers: Henry Prigg labourer, John Turner labourer
In presence of John Bye and Elizabeth Bye (both signed)

John Bye and Elizabeth Claydon married in Cowlinge on 1st March 1833

Interesting. John Bye and Elizabeth Claydon, are my 3 x gt grandparents.

Elizabeth Bye's parents were, John Claydon and Elizabeth Prigg, b. 1788. She was the sister of the Henry Prigg, b. 1809, who married Amy.

In my notes I have Amy as Amy Haxie nee Gault, born abt 1806, Wickhambrook, Suffolk. Back to the drawing board.

Hi Everybody,
I am researching a family for a friend. Her surname is Sainthouse. Her father was Robson Dixon Sainthouse1918-1999 his father was George Kendal Sainthouse 1894-1937, his father was Paul Sainthouse 1859-1905 and his father was William Sainthouse 1826 born in Sheffield. It gets confusing now as others are saying his dad was William Senthouse 1788 married to Jane Coldwell. There is a John Sainthouse c1740 from Fishlake he must fit in there somewhere. I hope you can help Marie.
Cheers
Nigel Payne

Researching Catherine Stewart who married George Kendall in 1866 in Hetton le Hole.
I could only find Catherine and George (surname Kendle) in 1901 & 1911 census in Easington Lane. Eventually found them in 1871 & 1881 census as Senthouse, and 1891 census as Sainthouse.

George was baptized in 1846, Crane Moor Nook, Thurgoland, Yorkshire, son of Ann Kendal.

I can't find a marriage but Ann's husband was William Sainthurst/Sainthouse. There son was Paul, born abt 1858, in Yorkshire.
The family are in Hetton le Hole by 1861.

Ann Kendal's father was Paul Kendal who moved from Yorkshire with the family.

He had other children Thomas (married Ann Jane Welsh nee McNally), Singleton, Jane (married Robert Harvey) and Matilda (married Thomas Holland).

I have know idea who Singleton married. I believe he was the son of Singleton Gardner and Margaret Livingston.

Dumfriesshire / Mein - Canonbie

I'm researching my Corrie/Currie family.
Nicholas Corrie/Currie born abt 1795 in Scotland, I believe was born in Hoddom, Dumfriesshire, son of John Corrie.
Nicholas was a farmer and by 1861 cattle dealer.
There is a John and George Corrie of Ecclefechan, Hoddom in a record for 1798 they are cattle dealers.
George Corrie married Frances/Fanny Mein (marriage not found).
I think she was born abt 1776 -1781 possibly the daughter of Andrew Mein and Elizabeth Dalzell who are the parents of Pultney Mein, William Mein and Nichol Alexander Mein. One of George and Fanny's granddaughters was called Elizabeth Dalzell and George and Fanny's first son was Pullney Andrew Corrie born in 1798.

Hello Jim,

My 3 x gt grandmother was Martha Smith, born abt 1816 in Warrington. She married in Liverpool in 1837 to George Cowan.
Martha was baptized 16 Feb 1815 St Elphin, Warrington, daughter of William and Mary Smith, abode Bank Quay, William's occupation Ship Carpenter.

William and Mary had a son James baptized in 1816.

I am also having a problem with the marriage of my Martha's parents.

I can only find one marriage in Warrington that would fit - William Smith - Mary Pilling in 1810, witnesses Phebe Tabener, Thomas Smith and Ireland Arrowsmith

I think I have found William and Mary Smith in the 1841 census living Hood Lane, Prescot, Lancashire. William is 46 Ship Carpenter his wife Mary is 45 and also in household is Hannah Cowen aged 3.

Martha Smith and George Cowan had a daughter Ann born in 1838 in Liverpool, but by 1841 they were living in Whitehaven, Cumberland but Ann is not listed in household.

I thought I would post my info. You never know the Thomas Smith witness to William's marriage could be your Martha's father?

Denise :)
