Unwanted Certificates & Artefacts / Annie Wilson
« on: Wednesday 29 March 23 01:13 BST (UK)  »
Upon clearing out some documents, I have found an original birth certificate for a Annie Wilson born 16 June? 1875 in Aston, Warwickshire.

I am not sure who this is if I’m honest or why it is our family’s possession. I have trace her to marry a Arthur Weldon and they had a child but that is all I’ve found so far. It has only been a brief look as it’s been mayhem here.

It would be a shame to throw it away, and if I’m honest I will keep it but do you think the Birmingham Archives would take it at all? It is extremely fragile, thin like pages within a bible.

If there is a descendant from this person I’ll happily send it out to you but you would need to prove to me how you are a descendant as I’m sure it’s valuable to someone.

If I don’t respond straight away, I apologise. I will do just need to be patient as I’ve a few things to sort out.

Kindest Regards
Andrew.

Another update:

I have now confirmed through DNA analyst who the mother of Thomas William Hunter is. I was able to trace Frank Hunter and find further evidence to support the theory I found.

Thank you all for the time taken to help push me in the right direction.

I’m going to give this a break for a bit in order to focus on some present events happening but if any future Thomas William Hunter descendants want the evidence I found feel free to ask and I will gladly share it with you.  :)

Considering I’ve had a few messages of support and concern from users saying my comment was fair in a challenging way and asking if everything is okay, I think I’m more than happy to keep my comments visible.

Who said you private messaged me? Who asked if you wanted to reply to you?
I see no correlation into what you are saying there...

You forgot to mention what you DID DO was you ‘added extra comments’ which were RUDE, argumentative and unhelpful. There was absolutely no reason for you to write that. It was 5 days from your post til your extra comments.
Your later comment where you state that I have no interest in my on family posts is extremely disgusting. You had absolute zero right to say that when you have no idea in what is going on in other peoples lives.

As I mentioned before, there is an awful lot more to deal with at the moment, none of it is your personal business, whilst I originally was going to share with you why, I then realised the way in writing you was using was very negative and distasteful. As mentioned, there are reason for why I had to put this on the back foot.

Had you added ‘extra comments’ that would have helpful in a respectful way you may have had a much better more considerate response. You cannot claim you are innocent in this. And neither can I (as I did not come back with questions or appreciation within the 5 days of you posting till now), however I was not the one to add silly comments about showing lack of interests.

I asked you politely once before to not respond to this as you clearly know how to play people and manipulate situations.

I have thanked you and and now I kindly request ONCE AGAIN to please not respond to this. It will be a form of harassment if you do as clearly you want to try and antagonise
Thank you.

Andrewp91, Your rudeness / insulting reply is on display for all to see.
I did NOT contact you via private message. I did NOT ask for a reply, NOR did I ever request a reason for your lack of response.

Thank you to the person who sent a notification to me about this via private message.

To your original comments. Thank you for also finding the information that I had regarding a William and Sarah Thompson, not sure how you managed to select these two people as the being the definite people considering there does not seem to be a record showing Francis’s mother anywhere and with a name like William Hunter, I’m sure there probably been many families around at a similar time. (Hence the reason I was asking for some proof of the parents).

Thank you also finding the information I didn’t have (the burial), not sure where this is sourced or how you found it (the date) but you managed to find something I didn’t have. So genuinely, thank you for that.

Regarding your newer post understandably you might seem a little annoyed at not receiving a reply back, although petty, it doesn’t cost a lot to say ‘thank you’. However,.. you know what actually, I just wrote a whole thing about the reason why but then realised I don’t need to explain myself to anyone on why I failed to report back with questions or appreciations. The world does not revolve around Rootschat and things happen in peoples lives.

And as for your ‘I see no point in posting further information’ think it’s best for all if you don’t reply back with all due respect. But again thank you for the burial you did find.

Just an update on this.

After a bit of digging, I have come to the conclusion that Elizabeth Hunter (1824-1912) is the mother of Thomas William Hunter. I believe she had Thomas out of wedlock which would make it almost impossible to locate his father.

Hopefully, someone can find some sort of evidence to prove a father for him, maybe a Newspaper Article or some sort of another record? (I do not hold hope though).

The reason why I came to this conclusion is that Elizabeth Hunter, after her marriage to William Coates on 18 Mar 1852 in Eastrington, Yorkshire, England, she can be found in the following Census Records.

1861 Census; FOUND, BUT UNABLE TO LOCATE PIECE, FOLIO, AND PAGE NUMBER
1871 Census; (Piece 4750, Folio 49, Page number 15)
1881 Census; (Piece 4723, Folio 56, Page number 23)
1891 Census; (Piece 3892, Folio   30)
1901 Census; (Piece 444, Folio 20, Page number 6)
1911 Census; (Piece 28406)

It is the 1881 Census that provides a clue to my question. Frank Hunter, the Grandson of the head of household William Coates/Elizabeth Hunter. Frank in this census is 4 years old, which would give his birth around 1877.

Now if we go back to Thomas William Hunter's children, Frank Hunter (1876) is missing from their household in the 1881 Census which can be located here (Piece 4447, Folio 38, Page number 23).

I believe that Frank Hunter is living with his grandmother Elizabeth here which ultimately makes Elizabeth the mother of Thomas William Hunter.

That is my belief anyway. If anyone can see any flaws in my speculation then I will be more than happy to revisit this.

I am looking for anything that could help me locate the parents/Siblings of Francis Hunter (abt.1806-abt. 13 Jun 1876) please. I am also looking for a burial record of his if possible.

I am aware of a tree that has a father and mother with a headstone, however, there is little other a coincidence to provide some sort of proof that these are his parents.

The following information is what I have on him in order.

Baptism; 10 Jan 1806 Sutton in Holderness, York, England. (Father is William Hunter).

Marriage; 18 Oct 1822 Sculcoates, York, England.
Married Jane Gibson (abt.1807 -  Sep 1878)

Occupation; Joiner/Carpenter

1841 Census; Piece 1226, Book 8, Folio 8
1851 Census; Piece 2358, Folio 407, Page number 10
1861 Census; FOUND, BUT UNABLE TO LOCATE PIECE, FOLIO, AND PAGE NUMBER.
1871 Census; Piece 4765 Folio 17, Page number 5

Children;
Jemima Hunter (abt.1823 - 1 February 1907) - Married James Voakes (11 Jan 1818 - 2 Jun 1894)
Elizabeth Hunter (abt.1824 - March 1912) - Married William Coates (abt.1831) on 18 Mar 1852
Sarah Hunter (abt.1827)
Samuel Hunter (abt.1830)
Mary Hunter (abt.1831)
Ann Hunter (abt.1833)
Jane Hunter (abt.1836)
Frances Hunter (abt.1837)
William Thomas Hunter (abt.1841)
Jane Ellen Hunter (abt.1844)

Probate; 18 Sep 1876. Leaves Effects to Jane Hunter.

*Note* Further details may be found here for Thomas William Hunter whom I am under the impression (after a bit of digging) is the son of Elizabeth Hunter before her marriage to William Coates https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=870291.new#new

Looking into Francis Hunter and trying to locate a marriage with a 'Jane'.

I stumbled across 2 possible marriages. One to a Jane Gibson and another to a Jane Dodsworth

First Possible Marriage
Francis Hunter to Jane Gibson
On 18 Oct 1822 in Sculcoates All Saints, Sculcoates, Yorkshire, England

2nd Possible Marriage
Francis Hunter to Jane Dodsworth
On 20 Mar 1826 in Hackness, Yorkshire, England

There are 13 baptism records for 'Hunter' with the father as Francis and the mother as Jane.
I believe I have identified which baptism records go to the marriages by finding out their locations and measuring the distance from marriage to baptism locations, as the distance between Sculcoats and Hackness (marriage locations) in Yorkshire being a fair bit away. (I have colour coded what I believe are the correct families for the parents.

1). Jemima Hunter - 30 January 1823 - Sutton, Yorkshire, England
2). Elizabeth Hunter - 12 December 1824  - Hook, Yorkshire, England
3). Ellen Hunter - 23 July 1826 - Hackness, North Yorkshire, England
4). Sarah Hunter - 27 May 1827 - Hook, Yorkshire, England
5). Jane Ann Hunter - 5 January 1829  - Lastingham, North Yorkshire, England
6). Samuel Hunter - 10 January 1830 - Eastrington, Yorkshire, England
7). Mary Hunter - 17 April 1831 - Eastrington, Yorkshire, England
8 ). Ann Hunter - 22 September 1833 - Eastrington, Yorkshire, England
9). Robert Hunter - 21 March 1834  - Ebberston, North Yorkshire, England
10). Jane Hunter - 31 January 1836  - North Cave, Yorkshire, England
11). Frances Hunter - 30 July 1837 - North Cave, Yorkshire East Riding, England
12). William Thomas Hunter - 24 January 1841 - North Cave, Yorkshire East Riding, England
13). Jane Ellen Hunter - 25 August 1844 - North Cave, Yorkshire East Riding, England

Purely my thoughts, nothing to really substantiate them - before his marriage we only see Thomas living with his grandparents, Francis and Jane = 1851 and 1861.  A possibility is that Thomas might be the son of Elizabeth Hudson, aged 26  :-\ as per 1851 census entry in the same household.  But   :-\ :-\ :-\ :-X

I agree. What I find suspicious is that I cannot seem to find any sort of record of his birth at all. Shadwell and Newport seem so far away from each other in terms of Birthplace.

I keep wondering if I the information I have are on two different Thomas William Hunters also because I can't seem to make any sense of it lol.
