The Lighter Side / Re: New census 2021 form
« on: Monday 08 March 21 21:50 GMT (UK)  »
Firstly, my condolences to your wife on the loss of her father.  However, I am wondering why a form has been submitted for him if he is deceased?  After all it is supposed to be for all those who are living on 31 March 2021.
"Bereaved", not "deceased". You need a fresh brew!

Doh   :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[  Looks like I need to have my eyes re-tested!  :-X :-X

Or even set up a search for the second brain cell - that is assuming I've got the first one!  :-*
I'm right with you there B-B, I misread it too! Is it a Tamworth thing?

In my youth, our town had two cinemas, the Odeon, and the imaginatively named Picture House.

Maybe they already had half a dozen, all female.
Women's football wasn't so popular then.

The Lighter Side / Re: Tall tales or truth?
« on: Tuesday 11 August 20 17:29 BST (UK)  »
My Dad's tales were something else,
1. "Grandad" was a pirate. (His mother had piece of watered silk to prove it!) There was dispute over the last lot of loot, and it went to Chancery, so the whole lot was lost
2. "Grandad" was one of a gang of (no doubt drunken) men who took a bowl of soup up to a corpse hanging on a gibbet, with a comic ending.
Dad's been dead 30 years, and I wouldn't get any more sense out of him, so how would I research that lot?

A terrific amount! At that time I was working as a motor mechanic for about £7.10s a week, having just left the Army.

With regard to Her Majesty's message, I would change two things;
1. Do not change to metric measurements, but let UK revert to Imperial, so that we no longer fill our
fuel tanks with litres, but measure our fuel consumption in miles per gallon
2. Refer to Baseball by it's correct title, "Rounders."

OH had to take two to another checkout, as only two allowed at a time.

But surely by doing that you’ve deprived someone else of their allowance >:(
Some people just don't get it.

Gosh, I just discovered that Warren Buffett is my sixth cousin.  I wonder if he'll remember me in his will?  Not counting on it.
BLESSED IS SHE WHO EXPECTS NOTHING, FOR SHE WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
