Ross & Cromarty / Re: Catherine Murray (Graham) - Stornoway

Thank you all, I'm not sure if it's spelt right or what else it could be but have looked through all the possibilities I could think of. I even started to wonder if it was a pet name and used something else too.

Br1gau - I did stumble on a death record for 1922 - Graham, Gormelia aged 88 Stornoway. She had married a Murray, Alexander. Funny that it's the opposite of your find.

The only last names match I was able to find was a Morrison, Gormillia who married Graham, Roderick in 1884 Barvas. Which is clearly not them haha

I have now found the 1901 census with Angus Murray and Catherine Graham living at Tolsta Main Rd 21, Stornoway. Catherine is listed as having been born in Stornoway abt. 1870... so that is somewhat confirmed.

I'm really at a loss with this one.

Ross & Cromarty / Catherine Murray (Graham) - Stornoway

I have hit a bit of a hurdle and was wondering if anyone was able to help?

I have the marriage Cer't for Angus Murray and Kate (Catherine) Graham 19 Aug 1897 in Fraserburg. Both were from Back Stornoway. His parents are listed as Donald Murray and Mary Murray (Martin). Her father is listed as Donald Graham and her mother is a name I've never seen before which looks to be Germalia Graham (Morrison). Her name got me interested in finding out more about her.

I've combed Scottish people site for any records but have come up with nothing. I've tried changing her first name to Gormelia, which appears to be more likely. I have found a few but none linking to a Donald Graham. I also found 3 Catherine Grahams' born at the right time (1869-71) in Stornoway, 2 have a father called Donald but no Gormelia or even a Morrison surname.

Can anyone help me over this hurdle? Thank you in advance.

Angus (Forfarshire) / 1841 Census look up
« on: Wednesday 08 July 20 19:49 BST (UK)  »
I was wondering if anyone would mind having a look for the 1841 Census report for me?

I'm looking for George Tasker born abt. 1762 Dundee and was still living until 1842, he was married to Isabel Graham(e) born abt.1769 I don't know when she died.
They had a son also called George Tasker born abt. 1792 Dundee, again don't know when he died. He was married to Elizabeth Lamb in 1822 Dundee and had at least one son. James Smith Tasker born abt. 1825.

Thank you in advance.

Carrole Wells & Charjane,

I was doing research for your cousins in Thunder Bay, one of which is my sister's mother-in-law. If you private message me we can exchange emails. I'll send you everything I have on this line.

Sorry Carrole Wells, I'm not sure why but I didn't get an email to notify me that you'd posted on here.

Oh, what a shame.

I'm in Scotland, I found out about the families link to the Inn a few years ago. At the time it was still a pub and doing business. I had been planning to go see it but life is busy and kept getting in the way. My grandma (95 years old) is Barbara White and Charles Baker's 2 x great-granddaughter (William White & Sarah Telhurst's 3 x). I was hoping to get some pictures of it, and hopefully even photos of the inside. So sad, it's my own fault for putting it off.

Hi All, I am very late to this party! I'm not sure how I've been missing this post for all these years.

I'm a descendant of William White and Sarah Telhurt through their youngest, Barbara and her husband Charles Baker.

I'm not sure if anyone knows this but the Kings head was sold in Feb of this year 2019. It was set to be torn down to make way for a new 12 home building/buildings. I'm not sure if it's already gone but just wanted to sure.

Hello, I somehow never got a notification when you replyed to me Ostler. But I did get one today... So I'm so sorry for not getting back to you until now.

I have John Sutherland ? - 1874 wife Esther m.s. Sutherland 1783-1855
Their children were
William 1807-1908
Robert 1809
Hugh 1813-1855
James 1816
Janet 'Jessie' 1817-1891
Ann 1819-1915
George 1821
Alexander 1823

My line is through Hugh who married Barbara Gunn 1814-1855
I've only been able to confirm details about two children Donald 1836 -1914 and Ann 1837-1915.

Donald was my 3rd great grandfather. He was a master shoemaker and married Ann (Annie) Grant 1838-1927. I'm lucky to have a photo of them.

Their daughter Williamina 1868-1958 was my 2nd great grandmother, she married Donald Sutherland 1857-1936. I have confirmed 4 children but they might have had more.

Williamina & Donald's eldest daughter, Annie, went to Canada and married David Bradshaw. She died shortly after their 5th child was born.

Williamina & Donald's youngest daughter, Isabelle "Belle", went to Canada for work. Last-minute she decided to go two months earlier to help her sister's widower and children. She and David were married later that year. Belle and David had five children together and their eldest was my grandfather.
