I too remember Lewis's and being a country bumpkin it was a marvel.  There were escalators and Mum would have a firm grip of our hands.  The lifts were operated by an attendant.  Did he rhyme off what was on each floor?
The basement had a large food hall and the choice quite staggering to me.  A firm favourite was the ham on the bone cut to order and of course the biscuits.
There was a bit which sold records and it had booths for listening to your chosen disc before buying. Bought my first LP, Tom Paxton's Ramblin Boy and still have it! Had others given as presents buy something special about buying with your own money.
If memory serves me I think you could buy everything you needed there.  Ah memories.

Done.  Many reasons to be grateful for our wonderful NHS.

Thank you Forfarian.  I have been on SP but can't find birth for Inglis. Found marriages and divorce records but as you said probably still living.  I wonder where the name came from as looking back my tree there does not appear to be any links to Scandinavia or Anglo Saxon princesses.

Thank you for your replies.  I will investigate further the possibility of a family connection.  Can't do much at the moment as other calls on my time.
I appreciate all efforts to help.

Thank you both for your replies.  It is such an unusual name to me.  Is there any way to find out if there is anyone else in Scotland with that name

I am not sure if this is the correct place for this query.  Please move if more appropriate elsewhere.
It is out of curiosity.
I have Ianswythe MacDonald Grant 1922 - 2016 daughter of Ewan Smith Grant and Edith Pursey.
She was born in Duthil and died in Pitlochry. I have googled the name and eventually found it on a list but couldn't get a translation of which country.  Scandinavian?  Recently in the news an Anglo Saxon princess Eanswythe.

Thank you Spades for the link.  Unfortunately not enough information given to know if he is among those listed.  Alan I will contact the Salvation Army.  It looks like I may have hit a brick wall.

CaroleW   Have asked for this to be done.
Jamjar As far as I know in NZ.  I do not know anything of his family.
Siblings born in Cove - William Harry, Ewan and Marion Campbell.  James Donald born Auchenbowie as far as I know he went alone.
CaroleW  No date given.  His sister is still alive but has Alzheimer's. The age fitted with only grant on the one list that came up for me.  I believe he married in NZ.  I never heard much talk about him or his family and unfortunately have lost contact with any remaining cousins.  I had noticed farm hand and if this is the right Alexander it shows him as single.
Annette7  Agreed that that is not him.
Carol80  Checked website but there is not enough information to confirm that that is the right record and the other three will be the same.
Thank you all for your time.
