There may be records in the Independent Churches of the Buckhaven and it seems Leven area where there is the Leven Free Church (1843-97) and Leven Congregational Church (1804-60) and Scoobie Church (bef1843) where their first child William Wallace was Buried in 1821. There might be more info at the National Archives of Scotland, Edinburgh. Time will tell. Where are you from?

Hi there, thanks for taking time to answer my call. Are you related to this Wallace family? Apparently George Wallace bap 15 Mar 1795 in Wemyss & apparently died 26 May 1841, age 72 in Markinch, Fife (also see Will of 22/11/1842 tenant of Auchmuty, Markinch). However, this death we know to be incorrect as there was a letter written from George to dau Margaret dated 13 Jun 1841. We have only found her parents George Wallace & Margaret Wright info due to her death certificate, where her son William was the informant. The various locations where they are living are confirmed through letters and census'. I have purchased most of these through ScotlandsPeople.

Hi Margaret, I've just downloaded this record from Scotlands People and it say Wid. next to Agness. I however have only been able to find 2 other deaths for George who I don't believe match. Our ancestor Margaret Wallace was married in an independent church in Glasgow who's family is from Buckhaven. This would explain the lack of records for this family to a large degree. George had our ancestor Margaret with an apparent Margaret Wright, perhaps on his travels and before marriage to Agnes Thompson. Our theory is she died at childbirth perhaps and he cared for her with his new wife.
In the 1841 Census George & Agnes are living next to his brother James (also son of William & Margaret Millar). George's children Mary, James & George also living with them in Buckhaven. Agnes continued living with daughter Mary until atleast 1861. It appears this family stem from Coaltown of Wemyss from 1788-1800. Perhaps this links them to nearby Dysart and Kilkaldy?

Radnorshire Lookup Requests / Re: Owen/Owens family 1841 census

From another post regarding Edward Owens' service:
"Hi again, had somewhat of a breakthrough and confirmation to my last post. I was thrown off at first as I kept coming across Edward Owens of Llanbister (5km NE of Abbeycwmhir), especially in the National Archives. However apparently according to Powys archives:
"In the wake of the Restoration, too, he built a small church in 1680, closer to the abbey ruin; this was constituted a chapelry to Llanbister, and continued as such perhaps into the 19th century. The Tithe Survey of 1839 considered Abbeycwmhir to be a part of Llanbister parish,
but Samuel Lewis several years earlier had classed it as a parish in its own right."
So on ancestry I first found the Chelsea Pensioner records confirming his birth date, then in Canada, British Regimental Registers of Service also confirming these details.
Therefor, he must have served in the 81st Foot Regiment; 3rd Garrison Battalion around 25 Jul 1806 and discharged at age 40 in 1815. I do believe this could be the missing piece of the puzzle that could open up this Owens family ancestry.
An Edwardus Owens Baptised 29 May 1776 in St Davids/St Harmon, Radnorshire (also near Abbeycwmhir)."

Hi there, here is my reply from another post regarding our common ancestor:
I believe from endless researching that this may be our link to my mothers maternal lineage. Mariah who was granddaughter of Edward & Mariah Owens in 1851 Census living in Abbeycwmhir is mentioned as born in Rhayader in 1861 and Abbeycwmtear, Radnorshire in 1871 Census of Aberdare, Glamorganshire. She is ancestor to many people and married Levi Doel in Aberdare. On her daughter Mary's birth cert is says her maiden name was Owens but to this day we still can't find her in the birth register. Her mother it seems was living with parents in 1841 Census as Mariah and by 1851 is perhaps as Servant (as Mary Owens) for Richard & Mary Ann Davis' family in Abbeycwmhir.

FYI: I have just found out a Edward Owens sold their property in 1851 from the    Powys Archives. See

All I know so far is that Edward may have served for 'Halifax Post' delivering mail to troups in Canada. But it's a long shot as I haven't found any record of this. Only 'Army H.P.' in 1841 Census and as you say Cheley/Chelsea Pensioner in 1851 Census. Perhaps you could help shed some light on these difficult ancestors of ours?

I just came across my ancestor in 1851 Census mentioned as "Cheley Pencioner 1/2 Pay" of Abbeycwmhir, Radnorshire who in 1841 was "Army H.P.". I just found a "Cheley Bridge, Chelsea, cross the Wever River" which was in between both of our ancestors. I'm wondering if there's some truth to both our posts? Guess it could just be short for a Chelsea Pensioner being ex Army in general.
