Hi Cathy, would I be right thinking you live in Australia? My father had a great love of books he collected some beautiful ones that I have and treasure. Maybe it was that connection that brought him and your aunt together. Before farming he was a picture restorer, but farming and gardening were in his blood, something I have inherited. He also served in the RAF , an upper gunner in bomber command, I have his flying log book.
Would you like to make this link private? I could then send you some photos.
Best wishes Humfrey.

Morning Cathy, it’s beautiful in my part of the world. I have my fathers birth certificate - born 9/10/1924 in Christlleton Cheshire, baptism, Christleton church 10/11/1924.
He was killed March 1954. A farming accident moving a bull.
I have never found any information about your aunt on line. My mother said the marriage was annulled, who knows after all this time, not the sort of thing I would have asked my mother. There seems to be a lot I don’t know.
It would seem that your aunt and maybe your mother might know what happened everyone else has passed away.
If I can help with anything else please ask.
Humfrey.

I am really sorry I know nothing about those years 1946 till I was born 1949. My mother called him Hugh.
I don’t think she ever got over his death even though she married again, I   think that my stepfather didn’t like her talking about him. I did know his mother and sister and my cousins. They all stayed in the USA. I now live in North Yorkshire. It would be good to know what your aunt remembers, but then he may have hurt her. There is so much I could tell you . I just remember missing him - I loved him. It would be good to talk so many memories. Humfrey.

Hello Cathy, yes Humfrey Walter Keith Welsby was my father. I was born 19/10/49. There was always a mystery about a first wife. My parents got married after I was born, and we moved to the USA. I also had a brother who died a few years ago. My father was killed in Sussex when I was nearly five. I remember him well and have many photos. I would be very happy to exchange information. Do I have any other siblings.
Hope to hear from you again. Humfrey.

Will be happy to send you all the information on the Welsby and Humfrey families. Also any photos I have.

After this post we can go private, so I will send you my email address.

Hello EvanH, we have met you came to Devon, you would have been about 13? We both have a love of horses. I never met grandfather  TH but do have one photo, I discovered the name of the lady he ran off to the USA with. I remember Winifred she used to send me wonderful books  for my birthday which have now been passed to my three grandchildren. I have very fond memories of your father, i still have the birthday cards he made for me. Diana came to England a few times, you are right she told me nothing and my mother was the same.

My father was killed in farming accident  in 1954. I was told that Oliver's death was war related, perhaps post traumatic stress. They are buried next to each other in sussex, A very beautiful and peaceful church.

I have done a Welsby family tree back to 1573. The Humfrey family is very interesting as is the other family name Glegge.

I would love some photos. I think we can exchange our email addresses through Roots if you would like to.
                Regards Humfrey.
