Thank you  :)

.. Ah! Thanks for that Heywood. Yes I'm researching my 'Gibbons' line which has led me to the FitzGibbons'. There are many crossover instances I have found from FitzGibbons to Gibbons....and indeed Edmund/Edward. What's doubly difficult is that some baptisms were Church of England, yet others RC. And there are 2 Edmunds/Edmond Fitzgibbons born/bapt. around the same time, c1820, one in Ireland and one in London. Hopefully the marriage cert. I originally requested  should help. I've sent email to archives at St Georges, hoping for a reply.
I need to obtain and actually see all the sources available in order to verify and piece together. Should keep me busy over the winter months ahead 😁. A lot to look at and work on.

Thanks again.

Hi All

Thank you so much for the info. Lots of great leads there for me to work with. It's going to be a huge jigsaw puzzle and take time to sort out as there are other FitzGibbons' in this area of London whom I believe are all related somehow. Fascinating!

Cheers
Graham.

.... I wonder if a bit of Victorian wife-swapping is going on  ;D

Thanks everyone for your interest and input. I wonder if Catherine Hanafin called herself 'Bridget'. I will approach/email St George's first then order the cert if they're not willing to look.

Thanks again

Thanks Carole but I was hoping someone has access to the actual  church records for St Georges. If not, then I will order the cert. I'm just curious to know Edmunds father as given. There are a few Edmunds in the census records and baptisms so it's hard to identify and be sure.

Still looking for a look up if anyone has access to St George's marriages 1855. Thanks.

Hi

Looking for the details of the marriage of Edmund Fitzgibbon/s, which took place at St George's Cathedral Southwark in 1855. I don't have the actual date but was registered in Jul-Aug-Sept. Looking for name of bride and other details  - condition, occupation, fathers and witnesses names.

TIA
Graham

Hi 'Jhanlon'

Thanks for your reply, great to make contact with you. Oh that's very interesting. So Clara Edwin was your great grandma?  My line comes down through John Edwin b.1873 my 2 x great grandpa born Evesham, Worcestershire.  John and Clara were 1st cousins. Clara's father John Edwin b.1838 and 'my' John's father was Charles Edwin b.1845 who were brothers.  That makes your mother and my grandma, Rosa Edwin (later Gibbons). b.1920 3rd generation cousins. So if I am right that makes us 4th generation cousins once removed. Distant, but cousins all the same  :).

If you are interested in chatting more, as I am, please send me a PM and we can pick up from there. Hope to hear from you soon.

Best wishes
Graham
