Wow. Many thanks aghadowey. I have never had such a quick reply. He was the son of my granduncle and I only found out about his existence just before Christmas ,having come to the conclusion years ago that they had no children.
Thank you too to Carole W for the census info. Now I can start building a story about this missing cousin.

Would be glad if anyone could help with this search. Clair Edward Strange was born in Vancouver in 1924. He was the son of Dan Sharp Strange . I would be interested to know if he had other siblings or family.  Many thanks , Emmanne

Hi Andrew, there is a thread about this
Scottish Marriage Procedure 1900 started in January 2017.
I don't know how to send a link but if you type Scottish marriage Procedure 1900 into the search box on home page it appears.
You may find some info there,
Anne

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Village name?

hi,
I have been wondering too if it could be the name of a farm rather than a village.
I googled variations of the spelling including Dumbrain and found a farm in Balloch called Dumbain.
In www.valeofleven.org
this farm has been in existence for 250 years.
It may be a shot in the dark but Kippen and Balloch are not that far apart.
Good luck, Anne
