Thank you for all of the replies. I've brought this thread to the attention of someone who has tried to source relatives previously and I'll report back on here once she's responded and had a look.

Monica L:  Your last thread was quite interesting and sounds promising. Thank you.

There are some great people on here.

Midlothian / LOOK UP REQUEST - WILLIAM McKINLAY EDMOND from MUSSELBURGH, near EDINBURGH
« on: Tuesday 10 September 19 10:48 BST (UK)  »
Can I draw members attention to a story in the Daily Mail yesterday. A Dutch lady, now aged 84 has been leaving flowers on a British Soldiers grave at the CWGC cemetery in Oosterbeek in Holland since she was 9 years old. The soldier was killed in the battle for Arnhem in September 1944, aged 27.

At the end of the article in mentions that family probably don't know that William Edmond is buried at the cemetery.

Having made a few enquiries it would appear that people have already tried to find a link to the family, that his widow re married, adopted two children who have been contacted and knew nothing about him or their mothers first brief marriage.

Surely there has to be someone out there related to this soldier? Is anyone interested in a having a look into this?

Here is the link to the article:

Thanks for all your help and apologies for the delay in writing back on here.

It does appear that we need to go back to look for siblings of Alfred Edwards and Ellen Norah Redding and their descendants.
I’ve received the following information
1901 census shows a John and Emma Reddin with children Nellie N, Amy B, Mirian A and Sydney D
1911 census shows a John and Emma Redding living at 7 Cambridge Buildings with children Nellie, Amy, Miriam and Sidney all born in Whitechapel.
It is believed that Ellen was known as Nellie.
It is possible that Ellen Norah’s siblings are:
Amy Beatrice Reddin born 1895 Bethnal Green.  Mother Jones
Miriam Ada Reddin born 1898 Bethnal Green.  Mother Jones
Sydney Donald Reddin born 1900 Bethnal Green.  Mother Jones
Although the surname is spelt differently it matches the 1901 census mentioned above.   If these are correct then Ellen Norah could be Nellie Norah Reddin born 1891 Mile End Old Town.

Hello all, having heard back form Sandra it would seem that some of you have been on the right track. A son a daughter in law from New Zealand have been traced - other people have been on the case no doubt. They will be shown this thread on here.

Thank you for contributing and helping with this. If anyone is interested in another challenge I had this in the same e-mail from Sandra this morning which I've cut and pasted:

'Do you know the lady we call ‘baby Margaret’? Margaret McKay was the youngest survivor at 6 months old and her mother Ellen Ridgway (no ‘e’ in the middle) died in the disaster holding baby Margaret above her head to save her. Margaret comes to our Memorial Services every year and has never been able to find anyone related to her mother. Her father remarried and never told her until she was 16 that her real mother had died. She would really love to find anyone that was related to Ellen, but has always drawn a blank. Maybe the Rootchat people could help?'

(I've asked for more information if she has any to send it and I'll update accordingly.
Thanks to all again for helping with the first request).

Stan54.

Hello all, many thanks for your replies and the information sourced. I'm just now waiting to hear back from Sandra to see if any of this helps. Ladyhawk, it is most probable that the family came from Bandon Road.

Can anyone help me find information on this 'Leggett' family.

The family l believe lived in the Bethnal Green area and all died in the underground tragedy in March 1943.

They are named on the Bethnal Green memorial near the underground station which I have been supporting for some years. The secretary of the Bethnal Green Memorial Trust would like to find relatives of the family.

The family were:

Benjamin Leggett aged 33,
Rose Leggett aged 31,
And Roy Leggett aged 7.

Thanks for looking at my post.
