Appreciate this is quite an old thread; my Great Grandmother Winifred Burke was born at 46 Larch Road. Beforehand her parents lived at 9 Kate Street, and later on at 27 and then 7 Dendy Street.

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Marriage Lookup on Ancestry
« on: Sunday 02 July 23 11:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Can someone kindly lookup the marriage of William Fereday and Martha Wassell in 1842, in Dudley? I’d like to receive the record as an attachment. Looks like it’s in this collection: “Worcestershire, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1935”. I thought I downloaded this record years ago but now I can’t find it!

Thanks

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Abbreviation on Marriage License
« on: Saturday 16 July 22 12:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I’ve attached a copy of an original marriage license which has been reproduced with permission. Note the abbreviation WWS on the document; I don’t know what this means, nor did the Assistant at the Record Office. Google hasn’t yielded anything, either. Some context behind the couple, My Great-Great Grandparents; the bride was born illegitimately (don’t know if that’s relevant here), and the groom’s occupation on their marriage certificate was “Man of Wars Man” (Naval Seaman) and he was from outside the parish. Any ideas what WWS means?

Thanks

P.s. not sure why it attached twice?! The bigger version is much clearer.

Hi, the book History of the Adams Family of North Staffordshire refers to the Mayer tomb on page 271. Overleaf there is also a portrait of an Elijah Mayer born 1749.

Hi Mark,

I’m descended from Sarah Elsby, Thomas’s sister. Have we been in contact before? Feel free to message me and we can share trees.

Thanks,

Ryan.
