Auguste Gregoire was my 3x Great Grandfather so we must be distantly related. Am connected to him via my mother who was a Gregor, only child of Augustus Henry Gregor a copperplate printer in Edinburgh, 1880-1950 ;a son of William Wood Gregor 1848-1917, son of Walter Gregor. Like you am also looking for Gregoire/Renwood connections in Dunkirk. Would love you to contact me to compare notes and family trees. Have found article by Ian MacDougall in Midlothian Advertiser dated Oct.2008 where he mentions Auguste as being a ship's cabin boy. He has written 2 books on French prisoners of War in Scotland - both available on Amazon detailing various camps. Apparently Auguste was sent to an officers depot in Peebles.
