Hello James,
Pleased to meet you. It does sound as though we are related.
Unfortunately I can't send you a PM (private message) until you have made three posts and this site won't let you put your private addresses on.

Hello Ronnie,
Thank you so very much for all the information on John Love ALLEN.
I had almost given up on any hope of finding any relations
I have just been onto the 1901c and found John's father Joseph ALLEN living as a boarder in Middlesborough. Interesting he is there with a friend named John LOVE. I wonder if that is where John Love Allen got his name.
Do you have any more nuggets you could pass on or could you tell me where I could find some more information.
Once again thank you very much for your help.
Sincerely
Mary

Oh I am stupid! Let's put it down to trying to do too much at once!  ;D

The Devon SWAINs are all around Axminster - Musbury and Kilmington are about 3 miles from Axminster.
But the offer still stands - if there is a SWAIN out there who would like to know where to start on their Devon rellies I might be able to help.

I have the SWAIN family back to 1817 in Wellington and environs- James SWAIN married to Mary from Axminster, Somerset but I haven't found any connection to my SWAIN family. If anybody would like the pieces of paper and tree please just tell me as I have been trying to find somebody who is researching this tree to pass it on. It also covers SWAINs who went to Tasmania  and South Africa.

Puddleduck,
I don't like pushing other genealogy sites but have you looked on B-G Forum as they have quite a collection of Kent/London SWAINs
Good luck

Hello Duckpuddle!

My SWAINs seem to come from Liverpool/ Cheshire area. The first SWAIN I have found is William and his sons were all born in Liverpool 1766 etc. George SWAIN did go near to London and then his offspring went to Enfield and around there but I am sorry to say I haven't found them in Kent - YET!!!!
Regards
Dotty

Hello,
I have found a Joseph Edward SWAIN dob 1908 Chester but then I have a problem William Henry SWAIN - I have two; one in Stockport, Cheshire Mar 1876 and another in Holborn Jun 1889. The first one would be 32 when his son was born the other 19. I do think you will have to buy Joseph Edward's birth cert to find out who his mother was and then perhaps we can find a marriage which would give a clue to which, if either, W H we are talking about.
Sorry I haven't been a bit more help - yet! never give up!
