Thank you, both of you. This gives me a few more pieces to the puzzle. Perhaps eventually I'll be able to find naturalization records or something else that will give his parents name or place of birth. I'm happy with what we have been able to find for now. Thanks again for your time and help!

Thanks, Sandra! I had the death record of William, but not Daniel's. Every little piece helps. I wish that death record had his parents or place of birth on it!

That explains why they were married in Somerset. I suppose this really should be transferred to the Somerset board then, as that is where I will need to look for her birth records.

Sorry, you are right about the marriage. I was mixing up someone else. I too have the 1841 marriage. Funny, Robert seems to be alone in the 1851 census. Where are the children? I show they may have had as many as 6-7, although I haven't proved all that out yet.

I am hoping someone will be able to help me with a dead end line. Martha Legg was, I believe, born abt 1821 in Stalbridge, Dorset, England. This I am not yet able to prove. I have no idea who her parents are and wonder if you have access any birth records that would show. She married Robert Bugg (son of Thomas Bugg and Elizabeth Shepherd, can't follow this line any farther yet either) in 1818. I think the family would be shown together in the 1841 and 1851 census. If you could find me transcripts of these records and who the rest of the family was, I would be very grateful. There seems to be some indication that Martha died in 1859. Robert died in 1865. Their daughter Mary Ann is my GGG-grandmother.

Any help in tracking down this seemingly elusive Legg family is much appreciated. Hailey

Thank you so much for your efforts. I really appreciate it. Gladys is my GG-Grandmother and I am so happy to have such a nice picture of her. Thank you all!

Can someone do a colorization of this picture? I know it's not a very high resolution picture, but it's what I have.
