Armed Forces / Re: List of all Battle of Waterloo men - free lookup offer
« on: Tuesday 06 February 24 15:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there

Thank you for your kind offer. There is no hurry if you have lots of look ups.

I only have basic information on Samuel Brockley born abt.1787birth not known where but he married in St Giles Pontefract Yorkshire to Elizabeth Davies on  5 May 1818 I have a record from Ancestry stating he was at the Battle of Waterloo. (Medal roll)  He died in  23 March 1828 Stockport Cheshire and was buried St Mary's Stockport Cheshire.  His first son baptised at St Giles Pontefract on 3 Jan 1819  was listed as father being in Royal Horse Artillery he later emigrated to Australia and died there.

If there is anything that would help with his origins thank you again.

Dont forget to check non conformist registers.

Main church
St Chads, Rochdale, parish church, also St Marys Wardleworth. C of E  then many small chapels, eg Wesleyan, Baptist.

Packer Street is central in Rochdale  and still there as  is School Lane.

Local studies "Touchstones" is moving temp to another address for work to be done in the building but if you check out their website they have a list of all the churches and chapels some of which are not on ancestry..

Hope this helps..

Yes these are both children of William and Sarah Thompson.  I feel I have gotten to the top of the tree.
William Hunter was a wheelwright.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Holy Trinity Hull Yorkshire Marriage in 1787
« on: Monday 15 August 22 15:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi I wanted to revisit this query, basically I havent got much further,

I come back to this family and think that Sarah Thompson wasnt linked to Caius Thompson (ship owners) none of her children were named after her father, as a clue, I wondered if anyone could help me with

I thought she might be the daughter of Francis and Sarah Thompson of Hull circa 1765

the witnesses to this marriage in Holy Trinity Hull 13 May 1787 who were

Susanna Hall
Thomas McRie (possible McKay)

In particular how do I find which Susanna Hall this is ?

I thought they may be family members.
